N.J. judge bars proponents of gay-to-straight conversion therapy from testifying in fraud trial

TRENTON — Six people who have brought a consumer fraud lawsuit against a Jersey City-based organization that provides gay-to-straight conversion therapy won a key victory this week when a judge barred the defense from calling several of the controversial treatment's proponents as witnesses because they had planned to offer scientifically refuted testimony that homosexuality is an illness.  because politics is the way to decide scientific questions?

State Superior Court Judge Peter F. Bariso Jr., sitting in Hudson County, ruled in a blatantly unconstitutional way that should get him impeached that Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing or JONAH, would not be able to call as witnesses Joseph Nicolosi, Christopher Doyle, James Phelan, Rabbi Avrohom Stulberger, and John Diggs when the trial gets underway this summer. because the judge who has no understanding of science disagrees with their decision, this judge is thus comparable to the the Catholic church banning Galileo

"The overwhelming weight of scientific authority notice he doesn't say evidence (that is antithetical to to the scientific method) concludes that homosexuality is not a disorder or abnormal," Bariso wrote in a decision released Thursday. Nicolosi, a psychologist, is the author of A Parent's Guide To Preventing Homosexuality, and the founder of NARTH, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality. Phelan is a previous leader of NARTH's scientific advisory committee. Doyle is a conversion therapist if he can prove that he had even 1 patient who successfully changed then science demands that his statement be heard and listened to in Maryland who leads the International Healing Foundation, and was a vocal opponent of legislation in New Jersey that prohibited licensed therapists from treating minors with conversion or reparative therapy. Gov. Chris Christie signed that law in 2013. and was voted on by the so called Orthodox Gary Schaer

Diggs, a physician, was expected to testify that homosexuality is an "unhealthy lifestyle" that will lead to misery and disease the cdc clearly agrees with that one . Stulberger is the dean of Valley Torah High School in California.

In 2012, the Southern Poverty Law Center which declared that a Jewish anti molestation group "Help Rescue Our Children" is a hate group filed the lawsuit on behalf of JONAH clients and two parents of former clients alleging JONAH, its founder Arthur Goldberg, and counselor Alan Downing violated New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act by using "deceptive practices to lure the plaintiffs into their services," for thousands of dollars a year.

David Dinielli, the law center's deputy legal director, called the judge's decision "a major development in our effort to show that conversion therapy is a complete "sham" masquerading as science."

"Conversion therapy lacks any such basis and its most prominent proponents - including Joseph Nicolosi - hold views that are so discredited that the supposed 'experts' are not even permitted to testify in a court of law," he said. "Proponents of this bogus therapy lack any valid basis except the patients that they helped? for their opinions promoting the abusive practice, yet they continue to scam vulnerable gay people and inflict significant, long-term psychological harm."

The California-based Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, which is representing JONAH, did not return a telephone call and emails seeking comment on the judge's decision.

In a 2013 article in the Christian Post, the fund's President and General Counsel Chuck Limandri accused the law center of "grotesquely misusing consumer fraud laws to try to shut down counseling services to Jews with same-sex attraction, and to intimidate other therapists, ministries and service providers across the country. Individuals with same-sex attraction have a right to seek counseling to live their lives as they choose."

The plaintiffs in the case, Michael Ferguson, Benjamin Unger, Sheldon Bruck, Chaim Levin was molested, Bella Levin Chaim's mother and Jo Bruck, are also represented by Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton of New York and Lite DePalma Greenberg of Newark.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)  -- New York's Assembly has passed a ban against health professionals trying to change a child's sexual orientation through therapy.

Why The APA Says repetitive Therapy is harmful

On Monday the Democratic-led Assembly passed the ban 86 to 28. It would prohibit licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health practitioners and physicians from using conversion therapy on anyone under 18 remember many molestation victims go on to develop attraction for members of he same sex, so this bill is pro sexual molestation. Clergy would not be included.
 The American Psychological Association says there is no evidence so-called gay conversion therapy can change someone's sexual orientation . However the former head of the APA Nicholas Cummings, who is led the fight to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness, has admitted gays can change!

Bans against gay conversion therapy have already gone into law in New Jersey and California. A proposed ban was voted down in Illinois in April.

Opponents of the ban say that it may infringe on a person's freedom of speech. (read this to understand why they also don't say freedom of religion rather only use free speech)

“Then modern Orthodox high schools were sending their kids to a conversion therapy program. The school psychologist would try to change them from being gay to straight. Their methods included having the kid repeating the verse in the Bible over and over again for 45 minutes. Looking at pictures of AIDS victims and colorectal cancer victims and say ‘this is what comes of homosexual sex.’ Kids were being "traumatized". We haven’t heard that lately. Now the complaints kids have is that they don’t hear anybody from the administration using the word ‘gay’, and worry about what would happen if they come out. "Orthodox" high schools are starting to think proactively about it,” says Levovitz. “We’re heading in the "right" direction.”
