The gay community will like to give a major thanks to Gary Schear for voting for the bill that helped make the propaganda that made this decision possible
JERSEY CITY — A New Jersey jury on Thursday found a non-profit group that provides gay-to-straight conversion therapy guilty of consumer fraud for promising clients they could overcome their sexual urges. some of the more extreme measures that were used, by undressing in front of other men , pummeling an effigy of their mothers, and re–enacting traumatic childhood experiences like the fact that one of them Chaim Levin was molested, as we know many people who were molested develop homosexual attractions, They were trying to help him overcome the pain of the molestation experience .
The verdict requires JONAH and Downing to refund thousands of dollars paid by former clients Michael Ferguson, Benjamin Unger, Sheldon Bruck, Chaim Levin, and parents Jo Bruck and Bella Levin for the individual and group counseling sessions and the "journey into manhood" weekends in the woods. Downing charged $60 to $100 for group and individual sessions but shared 20 percent with JONAH to help defray its administrative costs.
After three hours of deliberations, the jury found Unger was entitled to $17,950; Chaim Levin was entitled to $650; his mother, Bella, $4,000; and Bruck's mother, Jo, $500.
But the victory has broader implications. The national civil rights legal advocacy group Southern Poverty Law Center filed the case to take a stand against conversion therapy they had long calculated campaign beforehand trying to find people who went to therapies with out changing, to shut down all therapies — a frequent target of public criticism since the passage of same-sex "marriage" laws and other LGBT legal protections. In 2013, New Jersey joined California by outlawing licensed therapists from providing the therapy to minors. Oregon and Washington D.C. followed. The Southern Poverty Law Cener for many years listed the Igud Harabonim as a hate group, for the past few years they also listed "Help Rescue Our Children" a anti molestation group that has helped put some pedophiles behind bars, Furthermore they got some rabbis to help (including some rabbis who would shock many people who follow this important issue) in those efforts of putting pedophiles behind bars! Last month, a bill was introduced in Congress would classify commercial conversion therapy and advertising that claims to change sexual orientation and gender identity as fraud. Of course this wouldn't be complete if we didn't have our communities' representatives sponsoring the bill Jewish neighborhoods' representatives (call them to protest) Yvette Clarke(718) 287-1142 who represents much of Flatbush Gregory Meeks(347) 230-4032 (who represents The Rockways, and Jamaica Estates) and finally of course the Gay Sean Patrick Maloney 845-561-1259 (who represents the ir shel mishkav zachar Kiryas Joel)
"This is a momentous event in the history of the LGBT rights movement," said David Dinielli, deputy director for the law center and lead attorney for the plaintiffs. "The jury agreed not only is this based on lies, but it is an unconscionable business practice." after being barred from hearing expert witnesses
The legal battle is not over, Dinielli said they would be asking the court for an injunction to stop JONAH from operating. They will also seek the payment of their attorneys fees, which is permitted under the consumer fraud act.
"This is something brutal based on lies does he mean the gay agenda, and it needs to stop," he said.
The defendants' attorney Charles LiMandri of the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, contended JONAH was founded on the belief that homosexuality is a spiritual disorder caused by childhood trauma, and could be treated with two to four years of steady counseling.
LiMandri said the plaintiffs weren't entitled to call the program a failure because they had dropped out. Even then, they never requested a refund. LiMandri produced emails from Unger thanking JONAH and praised Downing, himself a man who claimed to control his gay tendencies and married a woman.
The plaintiffs only agreed to sue because they were later persuaded by a gay rights organization who was determined to make a national example of JONAH, LiMandri told jurors in closing arguments Wednesday, following the three-week trial before Superior Court Judge Peter F. Bariso Jr. in Hudson County.
"They are flat-out liars," he said.
James Bromley, one of the plaintiff's attorneys, accused Goldberg of lying to his clients - three orthodox Jews and a Mormon- who were desperate to conform to the expectations of their religious communities to marry and have children. They were lured by Goldberg's false promise of the program's two-thirds success rate, but Bromley reminded jurors Goldberg testified that estimate was based on counselors' opinions.
The defendants claimed they never called homosexuality a mental disease but rather a spiritual disorder. Bromley read back an email Berk sent to clients that compared homosexuality to alcoholism — a disease recognized by the American Psychiatric Association.
He also reminded jurors of the tactics. Chaim Levin was made to relive the sexual abuse as a child by a relative. Downing coached Unger to blame his mother for making him gay, then gave him a tennis racket and told him to strike a pillow and imagine he was hitting her. During weekend retreats and in group sessions, clients were encouraged to undress to rid themselves of "body shame" and touch themselves to express their manhood.
He asked the jury to recall the testimony of Carol Bernstein, former president of the American Psychiatric Association, who compared conversion therapy counselors "to amateur surgeons operating on the minds of young gay men." and the former president of the APA submitted an affidavit saying he help many gays overcome their homosexuality in favor of Jonah
"You never want to go under the knife with an amateur surgeon," he said. and you never want to prosecute a surgeon for malpractice with out listening to his expert witness
The Assembly Human Services Committee reports favorably
Assembly Bill No. 4097.
This bill revises the requirements for obtaining an
amended certificate of birth due to a change in sex. To obtain the amended
certificate, a person would be required to submit: 1) a form provided by the
State registrar of vital statistics and completed by the person's licensed health
care provider which indicates that the person has undergone clinically
appropriate treatment for the purpose of gender transition, based on
contemporary medical standards, or that the person has an intersex condition;
and 2) a certified copy of a court order indicating the person's name change,
if the person has changed his or her name. The application may be submitted on
the person’s behalf by a parent or guardian, if the person is a minor. The
State registrar is to issue the amended certificate which shows the sex and, if
applicable, the name of the person as it has been changed.
Under current law, a person is required to undergo sex
reassignment surgery to receive an amended birth certificate, and to submit to
the State registrar a medical certificate from the person’s physician
indicating that his or her sex has been changed by surgical procedure. In
addition, the law requires submission of a copy of a court order indicating the
person's name change, while the bill provides for such submission, if there has
been a name change.
Current law further requires the State registrar to
place the original certificate of birth and all papers pertaining to the
amended certificate of birth under seal, which is not to be broken except by
order of a court of competent jurisdiction. This bill would permit the seal to
be broken upon the request of the person who is the subject of the certificate
of birth, or upon the request of the parent or guardian, if the person is a
minor.
The bill also provides that in the case of a resident
of this State who was born in another state or in a foreign jurisdiction, if
such other state or foreign jurisdiction requires a court order in order to
amend a certificate of birth to reflect a change in sex, a court in this State would
have jurisdiction to issue such an order.

This is another important negative part of this law from a security point of view (which is part of the reason Chris Christie vetoed this Bill) (the underlined part is added to the old law)
b. The amended certificate
of birth shall be of the same general type as the original certificate of birth,
but shall not be marked as amended.
Here is the roll call of all those who voted on this bill.

Chris Christie did one of the only good things in his career by vetoing this bill (However he does agree in "principle" that people should be allowed to changes their sex on their birth certificate for transgenderisim)
This is from his veto text
A birth certificate is an important legal document. In many instances, the production of a birth certificate is a prerequisite to obtaining other critical identification documents that factor into decisions concerning employment, financial services, education, and travel. Birth certificates are often required to complete myriad security-related tasks. Accordingly, proposed measures that revise the standards for the issuance of amended birth certificates may result in significant legal uncertainties and create opportunities for fraud, deception, and abuse, and should therefore be closely scrutinized and sparingly approved.
Unlike many other states, New Jersey already has an administrative process in place to streamline applications to amend birth certificates for gender purposes without court order. Under the proposal before me, however, the sponsors seek to alter the amended birth certificate application process without maintaining appropriate safeguards. Consequently, further consideration is necessary to determine whether to make such significant changes to State law concerning the issuance of vital records.
An Article on that bill
TRENTON — "Transgender" people
who have undergone a clinical process to "change" their sex would be able
to get a birth certificate that reflects it under a bill that passed
the state Senate today.
The Senate voted 21-11 to approve the bill (A4097), which has already passed the Assembly and now heads to Republican Gov. Chris Christie’s desk.
Since 1984, state law has required the Department of Health to issue
new birth certificates to people who have undergone sex "change" surgery.
But not every "transgender" person goes that route, with some choosing
hormone therapy instead.
The bill would apply to people who have undergone “clinically
appropriate treatment for the purpose of gender transition, based on
contemporary medical standards, or that the person has an intersex
condition."
“It’s their choicedoes he understand what he is saying?. It’s their certificate. And at the end of the
day, it’s their "right" to do this,” said state Sen. Joseph Vitale
(D-Middlesex), the bill’s sponsor.
But state Sen. Michael Doherty (R-Warren), one of the most
conservative lawmakers in the state, took issue with the fact that the
bill allows minors to get the new birth certificates with a parent or
guardian’s consent.
Doherty noted that New York City Mayor-elect Bill DeBlasio’s wife,
Chirlane McCray, identified as a lesbian when she was in her 20s.
“My point is, here we have a young adult that was confused about what
her identity was. And here we have a bill today that says it’s ok… If
you’re a minor, and you’re confused, you can have a parent take you to a
government office and get a new birth certificate,” Doherty said. “And
we have people older than that... and they’re changing their minds.
Evidence: Bill DeBlasio’s wife.”
Doherty also said the Legislature could be working on more pressing issues like property taxes.
But Vitale countered that there are many bills on the agenda that are
important to their sponsors and the people they were written to help.
“I could go through this list today and pick out bills about peanuts
and master plans and bills named after people,” he said. “They’re all
important.”
Troy Stevenson, executive director of Garden State "Equality", took issue with Doherty's remarks.
"Senator Doherty is clearly either misinformed or misrepresenting the
difference between sexual orientation and gender identity. Chirlane
McCray is not and never has been transgender. To bring her into this
debate is absurd," Stevenson said. "This bill protects our transgender
brothers and sisters from the requirement of unnecessary surgery. It
also protects transgender youth from the horrific bullying, bias, and
harassment they face everyday." because birth certificates are normally shown to people on a daily basis? Star-Ledger staff writer Susan K. Livio contributed to this report.

An Article on that veto
TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a bill todaya month and a half ago that would have permitted people who underwent a clinical sex "change" procedure to amend their gender designation on their birth certificates.
Christie said changing a birth certificate would create opportunities
for "fraud, deception and abuse, and should therefore be closely
scrutinized and sparingly approved."
The matter is not dead the bill was recently re-sponsored in both the assembly and the senate, said Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen represents Teaneck), one of the bill's sponsors.
"Gov. Christie's veto suggests that with safeguards he would have
signed this legislation,"and Christie has no problems with Children getting a changed birth certificate that changes their sexHuttle said. "I plan to work with my
colleagues and the Governor's office to get this legislation done during
the next session."
Since 1984, state law has required the Department of Health to issue
new birth certificates to people who have undergone sex change surgery.
But not every "transgender" person goes that route, with some choosing
hormone therapy instead.
The bill, (A4097) would have applied to people who have undergone
“clinically appropriate treatment for the purpose of gender transition,
based on contemporary "medical" standards, or that the person has an
intersex condition," according to the legislation.
Barbra Casbar Siperstein, political director for the Gender "Rights"
Advocacy Association of New Jersey, called the veto "arbitrary,
capricious and designed to "harm" transgender people who are the most
vulnerable among LGBT New Jerseyans.”
Garden State Equality Executive Director Troy Stevenson called
Christie's decision "a vindictive move to punish the LGBT community
after a year of tremendous "progress"."
Same sex marriage was legalized by court order in October. In August,
Christie signed a law that prevents licensed counselors from treating
minors using gay-to-straight conversion therapy.
(NJ.com)
Republican state Senator Sam Thompson told The Star-Ledger that he opposes the bill.
“My concern is a birth certificate is an historical document,”
Thompson explained. “If you want a document saying you are a lady today,
I am 100 percent for it.” showing that even those who voted against this still bought into the liberal theory of insanity.
2. a. A person who is licensed to provide professional counseling under Title 45 of the Revised Statutes, including, but not limited to, a psychiatrist, licensed practicing psychologist, certified social worker, licensed clinical social worker, licensed social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist, certified psychoanalyst, or a person who performs counseling as part of the person's professional training for any of these professions, shall not engage in sexual orientation change efforts with a person under 18 years of age.
b. As used in this section, "sexual orientation change efforts" means the practice of seeking to change a person's sexual orientation, including, but not limited to, efforts to change behaviors, gender identity, or gender expressions, or to reduce or eliminate sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward a person of the same gender.
The bill includes a heretical statement that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality
1. The Legislature finds and declares that:
a. Being lesbian, gay, or bisexual is not a disease, disorder, illness, deficiency, or shortcoming.
Around 175 Rabbis signed a document urging anyone who has desires towards a person of the same sex to use therapeutic methods to change; a practice that is now banned by the state of NJ in a flagrant denial of the first amendment.
Listen to Rav Yoshe Ber Soloveitchik on the possibility of changing homosexual inclination, and his strong opposition, to the liberal view of a therapists role in dealing with homosexuality.
Despite all this, "orthodox" assemblyman Gary Schaer had no problem voting for this evil bill
Agudath Israel of America which did nothing to fight this evil bill released this statement!
Agudath Israel
of America, a national Orthodox Jewish organization, issued the
following statement today in reaction to New Jersey Governor Chris
Christie’s signing of a bill that will prohibit therapists and
counselors from treating minors seeking to overcome same-sex attraction:
We are deeply disappointed and saddened that
the State of New Jersey now prohibits therapists from treating minors
who have made a personal choice to seek help overcoming same-sex
attraction. The new law tramples on the rights of mental health
therapists to engage freely in their profession, and it unfairly denies
teenagers seeking therapy for issues that are troubling them the ability
to obtain professional help.
Under the new law, therapists, social workers
or counselors who work with minors on these issues risk losing their
licenses to practice their professions, and minors who sincerely want to
obtain professional help will have nowhere to turn. This is an
unconscionable infringement on personal liberty and a trampling of
personal rights, including religious and free speech rights.
Agudath Israel views this threat to civil and
religious liberties with great alarm. We believe that the new law,
like a similar one in California that has been challenged in court and
whose implementation is currently blocked, is constitutionally suspect.
We will study the New Jersey law carefully and consult with mental
health professionals in our community, as we consider all appropriate
options.
TRENTON —
Licensed therapists are banned from using conversion therapy to try
to change a child’s "sexual orientation" from "gay" to straight under a bill
Gov. Chris Christie signed today, making New Jersey the second state to
prohibit the practice.
But a national religious-based legal and public policy group that
blocked an identical law from taking effect in California earlier this
year vowed to sue New Jersey, saying the legislation violates the First
Amendment rights of parents and therapists.
The legislation (A3371) prevents any licensed therapist,
psychologist, social worker or counselors related to these professions
from using sexual orientation change efforts with a children under age
18. Offenders jeopardize their licensed status under the new law, which
does not apply to clergy, or anyone who is not licensed by the state.
In his signing statement, Christie noted many leading health
organizations had determined such therapy was ineffective and harmful.
"The American Psychological Association has found that efforts to
change sexual orientation can pose critical health risks including, but
not limited to, depression, substance abuse, social withdrawal,
decreased self-esteem and suicidal thoughts," Christie wrote. "I believe
that exposing children to these health risks without clear evidence of
benefits that outweigh these serious risks is not appropriate."
Christie, a Catholic, had publicly stated his opposition to
conversion therapy because he said he believes people are born gay.
Asked about the bill at a campaign event today in Belleville, the
Republican governor would only say, "The signing statement speaks for
itself."
Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Matt Staver said his
organization "will immediately file suit" at the request of New Jersey
counselors and parents and national counseling organizations.
"The New Jersey governor is putting himself in every counseling room,
dictating what kind of counseling clients can receive," Staver said.
"This bill provides a slippery slope of government infringing upon the
First Amendment rights of counselors to provide, and patients to
receive, counseling consistent with their religious beliefs."
The leader of the state’s leading gay "rights" group, Garden State
Equality’s Executive Director, Troy Stevenson praised Christie. The bill
will ""protect" young people from being abused by those they should trust
the most, their parents and their ‘doctors,’" Stevenson said.
Stevenson said he hopes this "will lead to a further "evolution"" for Christie on same sex "marriage", which the governor opposes.
"It is our truest hope that the governor will realize ... the best
way to ensure our LGBT youth are protected from the abuse of being
ostracized, is to provide them with "equality"," he said. yet gays suicides are much higher than a few years ago!
The hearings on the bill draw angry responses from gay "rights"
advocates, family groups and people who had freely used gay conversion
therapy to lead heterosexual lives.
Arthur Goldberg, co-director of the Jersey City-based Jews Offering
New Alternatives for Healing, called the law "a tragic mistake."
"There are teenagers who go to mom and dad and say ‘I don’t want to
be this way,’ as long as voluntary and not coercive, what’s the
problem?" he said.
State Sen. Raymond Lesniak who the Jewish community of Elizabeth can knock out if it chooses to (D-Union) one of the bill’s sponsors,
praised the governor’s actions. "We aren’t telling parents how to raise
their children with this law, we are acting to "protect" young people from
abuse," Lesniak said. "If adults want to make the decision to undergo
this process, they can. But minors don’t have the same free choice."
