WASHINGTON—Monday's Supreme Court decision enabling some private companies to opt out of the federal health law's some contraception coverage requirements ignited partisan dueling over not just the 2010 health-care law but over a 1993 religious-freedom law cited in the decision

The high court's decision in the Hobby Lobby case refocused attention on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that passed Congress overwhelmingly in 1993, with the support of some lawmakers still serving in both the House and Senate. this law was passed by congress after the Supreme Court in Employment Division v. Smith (1990) (opinion written by Scalia) weakened the first amendment's religious protection from the government having a compelling interest (banning suicide bombings) to only a rational reason for the law (a law that forces grocery stores to be open 7 days a week would be a rational based reason due to the government's interest in allowing consumers to shop any day of the week) that would infringe on religion , congress passed this law to restrengthen it back to it's original protection.  The RFRA was later weakened by the Supreme court again in 1997 in the case of state laws. The statute requires federal laws to accommodate individuals' religious beliefs unless there is a compelling interest as opposed to a rational reason as was the case after the 1990 court decision at stake that can't be attained through other means.

While Republicans on Monday triumphantly pointed to the law's role in the decision, Democrats said they hadn't anticipated the law would be so broadly expanded or more accurately that it would be applied to a law they agree with.

The Supreme Court's so-called Hobby Lobby decision attracted a lot of attention this week because it's an important ruling on the Affordable Care Act. WSJ's Jerry Seib discusses the decision's long-term political ramifications. 

In the case, the owners of Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., an Oklahoma City arts-and-crafts chain owned by an evangelical Christian family, and other companies challenged the Affordable Care Act by saying their religions consider certain birth-control methods that were abortion-like immoral and therefore they weren't obliged to help provide them under the religious-freedom law.

The Supreme Court's majority agreed, citing the religious-freedom law in its decision and not the first amendment like they should have.

Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the lead Republican sponsor of the religious-freedom law when it passed the Senate in a 97-3 vote, said Monday's decision affirmed Congress' decision to pass the law in the first place.

"As the Supreme Court rightfully said today, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act could not have been clearer in saying religious liberty of all Americans must be equally protected and not unnecessarily burdened," Mr. Hatch said in a statement. "That's why RFRA passed Congress overwhelmingly more than 20 years ago."

The bill passed the House on a voice vote and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton. 

The U.S. Supreme Court said "closely held" companies can, on religious grounds, opt out of covering employees' contraception costs in health-care plans.

But Democrats who had supported the religious liberties law in 1993 said Monday they hadn't intended it to be used to enable for-profit employers to avoid complying with federal laws so that would mean if chas veshalom they would make a law mandating a store (under the interstate commerce clause) opening up on Shabbos they would interpret that as a constitutional law and the RFRA to not cover it . The law shouldn't shield businesses from meeting the health law's requirements or the working on shabbos law, they said. The 1993 law refers to "persons," and the Obama administration contended that the law doesn't include for-profit companies like Hobby Lobby or your store under the shabbos work law.
 
"No matter how sincerely held a religious belief might be, for-profit employers—like Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood—should not be allowed to wield their beliefs as a means of denying employees access to critical preventive health-care services," or the law mandating stores open up on Saturday said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D., N.Y.) who supported the law in 1993. At the time, lawmakers kept in place a principle that religion doesn't exempt for-profit businesses from complying with civil rights laws, for example, Mr. Nadler said.

The bill was introduced in March 1993 by Charles Schumer of New York, then in the House, now a member of the Senate's Democratic leadership. Mr. Schumer joined a group of 18 other Senate Democrats who filed an amicus brief supporting the Obama administration in the Hobby Lobby case. In the brief, the Democrats had urged the court to clarify that the religious-freedom law doesn't permit for-profit businesses to deny health coverage or close on Saturday to their employees based on their owners' religious objections.

In a statement Monday, Mr. Schumer called the Supreme Court's decision "dead wrong," saying the law he introduced was intended to give individuals the ability "to exercise their religious beliefs without government interference." The law "was not intended to extend the same protection to for-profit corporations, whose very purpose is to profit from the open market a Jewish business is required to follow all laws even if they go against the Torah," he said.

Republicans had filed their own briefs supporting the challengers and arguing that the health law's mandate violated the religious-freedom law.

The law in question was originally intended to nullify a decision from Justice Antonin Scalia in the early 1990s that denied religious exemptions from generally applicable laws last year he explicitly said that would include legislation to ban Milah Scalia's view on the lack of freedom of religion may in the future make him just as dangreous as Ruth Bader Ginsburg currently is, if the liberals push in laws that mandate following liberalism over Judaism (this has applications in way more areas than the obvious wedding cake for a same sex "wedding"ex. the gays push an anti Milah law and Scalia signs off on it). The dispute arose when Oregon denied unemployment benefits to adherents of a Native American religion who used peyote, a controlled substance, in their ceremonies.

 City Councilman David Greenfield is now running, against the pro Torah Joseph Hayon to become Borough Park and Flatbush's next City Councilman. However this is not the first time these 2 faced off with each other. Both Joseph Hayon and David Greenfield testified during the Congressional redistricting hearings. However only one, Joseph Hayon of them argued on behalf of Brooklyn's Jewish (and Cathlioc for that matter) Communities.  David Greenfield argued in favor of a district that places Borough Park, Flatbush, and Bensonhurst in a district that includes Greenwich Village/Chelsea the Gay Capital of the East Coast.  In the last election the anti Torah Jerry Nadler who has made publicly mocked Orthodox Jews because they oppose homosexuality won by a landslide due to the support coming from Manhattan.  Manhattan had more then 3 times as many votes as Brooklyn making it impossible to get rid of Jerry Nadler, or even have him advocate for or interests.  Instead Nadler is the leading advocate for homosexual laws in the country and openly mocks us.  He has a record that has harmed the Jewish community spiritually, physically and financially!  The judges even cited David Greenfield as one of the reason that Brooklyn's Jewish community should be placed in a liberal Manhattan district.

• COUNCILMAN GREENFIELD : My name is David Greenfield , I'm a member of the New York City Council. I represent approximately 165,000 people in parts of Kensington Borough Park , Bensonhurst and Midwood . I'm also the only Orthodox Jewish member of the City Council, and so due to the time limitations my testimony today will focus on the impact that the proposed lines will have on the Orthodox Jewish Community. 
  
  
  First , I want to thank you service . I understand this role was thrust upon you by the inaction of the State Legislature, and considering the serious time constraints you have put together an impressive set of plans. 
  
  
  Southern Brooklyn is home to the largest concentration and fastest growing Orthodox Jewish community in the United States of America . I believe this to be community of interest. 
  
  
  The 200,000 or so Orthodox Jews live in the contiguous communities Kensington, Borough Park , Bensonhurst , Gravesend, Midwood, and Marine Park . While the proposed lines do a great job of protecting half of Southern Brooklyn's 200,000 Orthodox Jewish community , I think that they accidentally ignore the other half . And I say, " Accidentall , " because as the judge pointed out , how are you to know specifically the ethnic make - up of those particular communities and that's actually why I am here today . Specifically, the proposed lines do an out standing job in combining the Kensington, Borough Park and, Bensonhurst communities, roughly half the communities under the newly created 10th Congressional District.the map on the top that is majority in Manhattan and is currently represented by Nadler YMS  These lines consolidate these communities of interest along with other communities of interest such as, for example, the large Orthodox Jewish community of the Upper West Side of Manhattan the upper West Side is less then 5% Orthodox even with very liberal definitions, furthermore in order to get from Borough Park to the Upper West Side you need to pass through the gay and super liberal Greenwich Village. We thank you for this portion of the proposal as the Kensington , Borough Park, and Bensonhurst areas will be represented under this plan the plan included Harlem with Brooklyn's Jewish communities.
  
  
  Unfortunately , the other half of the community , roughly a hundred thousand or so , Orthodox Jews in the Gravesend , Midwood , and Marine Park neighborhoods they are split into three different congressional districts which thereby dilutes their voice and their ability to be with similar like - minded communities of interest . So I therefore ask that you keep the proposed 10th Congressional District Nadler's Manhattan based district intact while separately combining the areas of Gravesend , Midwood , and Marine Park within one area to be part of a congressional district, specifically , I would ask that this new district, which would incorporate the rough borders of 18th Avenue to Avenue Z running north to south , and McDonald Avenue to Flatbush Avenue running east to west be part of the old 9th Congressional District that was eliminated and our votes would be nullified by the African American Neighborhoods in Brooklyn , the one that is currently represented by Congressman Bob Turner . It's not just that these are communities of interest in terms of Orthodox Jewish religion and culture , I also believe that the communities are entitled to be able to express themselves with an ideology so before he was saying that Greenwich Village represents Borough Park's ideology   that does not necessarily always reflect all of their neighbors, and lies at the heart of those political realities.  Alternatively , I would suggest that these communities of interest be combined into proposed 11th Congressional District, which would give them the opportunity to be give with other community of interest specifically the Orthodox Jewish community of Staten Island . Thank you very much.
• CIRCUIT JUDGE LYNCH : Just so I understand . You don't think at least your ideal proposal would not take in people from Borough Park and move them into an other district that was combined with other South Brooklyn Jewish communities. You' re satisfied with that piece that completely nullifies the Jewish vote in favor of Liberals, but you're interested in taking the communities to the east of there and linking them in some way either to what's now the proposed 8th which is a majority black district, and includes Bedford–Stuyvesant, or what' s now the proposed 11th . Is that the idea ? 
• COUNCILMAN GREENFIELD : Let me just be clear . I think it's a two - part question , if I may . So part one I would say that the community that I represent notice how Greenfield is speaking for all of Borough Park I think is very satisfied with the plans of the 10th Congressional District are you happy being in the same district as The largest gay "community" on the east coast and being represented by Jerry Nadler. We notice how he's speaking for all of Borough Park don't believe that we need to have a district that encompasses the entire community or try to elect an Orthodox Jew . I can say that honestly because I would probably benefit the most if such a district would be created so this baal geyva thinks that we would elect him to congress?. That's not we're looking for, we're just looking for the communities to have a voice like in Nadler's district we have a voice?. So you have a hundred thousand roughly Orthodox Jews Kensington, Borough Park, and Bensonhurst we're now currently in the 10th , that's great if you are for homosexuality and liberalism, and don't want Shuls getting money from FEMA. The problem is on the other side they're sort of broken up . So what I've proposed is that let's either go back to the - - once again , I understand the burdens that you have in terms of trying to balance this all so that's why I ' m trying to give some possibilities . Potentially go back to the 9th where we can incorporate this community , or perhaps combine them with the current 11 th . For example, honestly, if we're speaking frankly, the 9th, current proposed 9th District , which is currently represented by an individual whose views and values do not mesh very well with the Orthodox Jewish community he's referring to Yevette Clarke and is correct but Nadlers doesn't fit with us any better then Clarke . And so, I would propose that those communities specifically the communities of Midwood , Gravesend , and Marine Park they should be combined into one area to give those communities a fair voice. and he has no problem if they would be linked together with Bedford–Stuyvesant

• MR . HAYON : Thank you very much . My name is Joseph Hayon.
  My mother is born in South America and my father is born in Egypt Brooklyn . I am currently President of the Brooklyn Tea Party and former assembly candidate in the 45th District , South Brooklyn, where I reside. I'm also a resident of the 9th Congressional District , Bob Turner, and I'm here to actually support the map the 2nd map in green submitted by the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty. What the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty did was they combined Bob Turner's district together with Mike Grimm. The reason for this is even though 25 percent of Orthodox Jews live in Bob Turner's current district, the number one issue of the Orthodox Jewish community was completely ignored by Bob Turner. In fact, because we're only 25 percent , and not 40 or 50 percent, this number one issue in the Orthodox Jewish community is completely ignored . For this reason , I also strongly support District 2 submitted by the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty which is currently not a district it combines a little bit of Nadler's district which is proposed by the maps by the magistrate , Ms . Mann
  In addition to that , I also reached out to two assembly representatives . I only spoke to representatives , I didn't speak to the assemblymen themselves , Hakeem Jeffries and Kareem Camara, and when I asked them to take a look , and I only spoke to the representatives spoke to representatives , and I asked them to take a look at the map submitted by Orthodox Alliance For Liberty, on first glance they seemed to be okay with it . District 5 of the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty, which is the old District 12 it makes a Spanish district for the Spanish community . We also have District 4 and District 5 by the Orthodox Alliance it's District 12 and District 13 , former District 5 and former District 4 , they put the Orthodox Jewish community together as well . Overall , the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty tried , to the best of my knowledge , tried their best to submit something so that this Court wouldn't have to start from scratch but to start with something somewhat presentable . My understanding is that the map submitted by them is not constitutional because it's - - it doesn't have the exact numbers per se, but I believe that this court can make those maps constitutional not just to help the Orthodox Jewish community but to help the African - American community , to help the Spanish American community , to help all the communities that live in Brooklyn . And that would be communities, definitely communities of interest of all interests , all communities are submitted in the Brooklyn portion of the map submitted by the Orthodox Alliance For Liberty

• One public official Greenfield noted that the Orthodox population was insufficient to constitute a majority in any single district . He suggested that the Recommended Plan adequately concentrated what he characterized as about half of the Orthodox residents of South Brooklyn ( those residing in Borough Park) in Recommended District 10 Nadler's district , but he argued that more easterly residents were divided among several districts and could beneficially be unified.
•  These divergences mostly Greenfield's suggest the difficulties, even under ideal conditions, of identifying and satisfying the particular concerns of the objectors

Gays Desecrate Memory Of Holocaust Victims

A group of activists unveiled five new stones memorializing non-Jewish victims of the Holocaust at Sheepshead Bay’s Holocaust Memorial Park this weekend, capping off nearly two decades of fighting for the right against a local committee opposed to the installation.

The stones, dispersed throughout the public park, remember the persecution of homosexual victims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the disabled, Roma and Sinti, and “asocials.” The unveiling ended nearly 20 years of struggle for broader recognition within the park. Members of the Holocaust Memorial Committee, charged with reviewing and approving the placement of new names and markers, held a protest led by City Council candidate Ari Kagan, who complained that the group of “outsiders” went over the committee’s head in getting approval to place the stone, and represented a threat to the memory of Jewish victims.

Despite the protest, the activists who pushed for the markers’ placement held a solemn service on Sunday and viewed the unveiling as a victory for the memory of lesser-known victims of the Nazi atrocities – and for social acceptance of those groups today.

“Things have changed in the last two decades,” said Richard Landman, the gay son of two Jewish Holocaust survivors who has spearheaded the initiative for inclusion. He noted the smaller size of the protest compared to previous years and the acceptance from politicians including former Mayor Ed Koch and Congressman Jerrold Nadler.

“I’m looking at this toward the future. This is a city park, where there are many people who are affected by the Nazi-era of the Holocaust. I want that, in the future, other groups should come here and learn their lessons of the Holocaust,” he added.
Landman was joined by represenatives from Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn, Disabilities Network of NYC, Disabled in Action and Voice of Roma.
The proponents of inclusion have been fighting for the addition of the stones at Holocaust Memorial Park at Emmons Avenue and West End Avenue since the early 1990s, before the memorial had even been completed. Landman formed the International Association of Lesbian and Gay Children of Holocaust Survivors in an era when gay and lesbian people were being given the boot from second generation survivors organizations. Around that time he also learned that the original plans to honor non-Jewish victims had been nixed, and he began fighting to have them reinstated.
The battle made headlines as early as 1996 – a year before the park was officially dedicated by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The committee, which sponsored the project in conjunction with then-Borough President Howard Golden, claimed that recognition on the base of the eternal light in the memorial’s centerpiece was sufficient – clashing with the wishes of the park’s architect. The New York Times reported at the time:

”We felt it was redundant and did not have to be included because it was in the summary,” said Ira Bilus of Manhattan Beach, a committee member.
Besides, Mr. Bilus said, the architect, George Vellonakis, was not responsible for content. ”He was commissioned to do the architecture and the design,” he said. ”We were commissioned to do the writing.”
Mr. Vellonakis has continued to press for separate recognition of other groups. ”I really felt it was my responsibility to recognize every group and represent history properly,” he said. ”As the artist and designer, it’s my concept.”

As the project went forward, the committee initially won out with the aid of sympathetic politicians like Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who also didn’t want non-Jewish victims recognized with additional stones in the park.
“It was part of the original plans, but because of politics it never got done and I thought that was a shonda,” Landman said.
Still, Landman made a request, he said, nearly every year for approximately 15 years, which was denied by the group without justification. Finally, in the early 2000s, Landman appealed to the Parks Department and the Mayor’s Office, appealing with an Article 78 proceeding, which charged that the committee’s decision was “arbitrary and capricious,” and in violation of the state constitution.
The Parks Department established an appeals process for the memorial as a result, and created a Blue Ribbon advisory panel to review Landman’s request – ultimately greenlighting it.
The stones were quietly installed in the park in July 2012, but Landman held off having a formal dedication for a year to test the community’s reaction. He also tried to keep this weekend’s ceremony quiet, hoping to avoid the ire of opponents.
“I wanted it to be a memorial, a commemoration of those victims who died,” Landman said. “I don’t want it to be a big, loud protest. It’s done. We’ve done it. It was done last year.”
Still, a protest was had.
Led by District Leader Ari Kagan, a candidate for City Council and member of the Holocaust Memorial Committee, a crowd of about two dozen gathered before the stones’ unveiling for a series of speeches delivered largely in Russian.
Kagan has been outspoken about the placement of the stones. He did not respond to a request for an interview as this article went to publication, but did express his concerns via Facebook.
He wrote:

I am outraged that the City of New York completely ignored the opinion of the Holocaust Memorial Committee, but preferred to listen to the opinions of the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Children of Holocaust Survivors, and groups like the Communist Party – USA and LAMBDA Democrats.
The Nazis killed many people during the war, but this sacred park at Sheepshead Bay is the Holocaust Memorial Park – not the “Nazi Victims Park” or the “WWII Victims Park”. The Committee made sure that all non-Jewish victims of Nazi atrocities were acknowledged in this park.
In 2009, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn tried to impose on us their decision to install these five new markers. Unlike every other stone or inscription, these five markers were to be installed without any review by historical committees or without the involvement of the communities of South Brooklyn.
We protested and the Mayor backed off. But today -four years later- we learned that the City once again ignored many local Holocaust survivors organizations and caved in to the demands of outsiders who clearly have a political agenda.
It is very sad!

20th Year Anniversary Of The Gay Manifesto

On April 25, 1993 the toevanicks had a rally called "The March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation" where they made official list of demands.  Many "noted" politicians attended including Congressman Jerry Nadler, David Dinkins, and Nancy Pelosi.  Also attending was Rev. Jesse Jackson (of hymietown fame). The National Park Service estimated attendance at 300,000, however non surprisingly organizers of the event claimed 1,000,000 attended the March.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender movement recognizes that our quest for social justice fundamentally links us to the struggles against racism and sexism, class bias, economic injustice and religious intolerance. We must realize if one of us is oppressed we all are oppressed. The diversity of our movement requires and compels us to stand in opposition to all forms of oppression that diminish the quality of life for all people. We will be vigilant in our determination to rid our movement and our society of all forms of oppression and exploitation, so that all of us can develop to our full human potential without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation, identification, identity, gender and gender expression, ability, age or class.

THE MARCH DEMANDS
1. We demand passage of a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender civil rights bill and an end to discrimination by state and federal governments including the military; repeal of all sodomy laws and other laws that criminalize private sexual expression between consenting adults.

* Passage of "The Civil Rights Amendment Act of 1991" (HR 1430 & S574).
* Repeal of Department of Defense directive 1332.14.
* Repeal of laws prohibiting sodomy, cross-gender expression (dress codes) or  non-coercive sexual behavior between consenting adults.
* Amendment of the Code of Federal Regulations to recognize same-sex relationships.
* Passage of the Equal Rights Amendment
* Implementation of, funding for and enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1991.
* Passage and implementation of graduated age-of-consent laws.

2. We demand massive increase in funding for AIDS education, research, and patient care; universal access to health care including alternative therapies; and an end to sexism in medical research and health care.

* The provision of responsive, appropriate health care for people with disabilities, deaf and hard of hearing people.
* Revision of the Centers for Disease Control definition of AIDS to include infections particular to women.
* Implementation of the recommendation-of the National AIDS Commission  immediately.
* A massive increase in funding for AIDS education, research and care--money for AIDS, not for war.

   This money should come from the defense budget, not existing social services.

* An increase in funding and research to provide an independent study of HIV infection in women, People of * Color, Bisexuals, Heterosexuals, children, and women to women transmission.
* Access to anonymous testing for HIV.
* No mandatory HIV testing.
* A cure for AIDS.
* The development and legalization of a national needle exchange program.
* Free substance abuse treatment on demand.
* The redefinition of sexual reassignment surgeries as medical, not cosmetic, treatment.
* The provision of appropriate medical treatment for all transgendered people in prisons and hospitals.
* An increase in funding and research for chronic illness, including breast ovarian, and other cancers particular to women.
* The right of all people with chronic illness, including HIV/AIDS, to choices in medical treatment as well as the right to end such treatment.

3. We demand legislation to prevent discrimination against Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgendered people in the areas of family diversity, custody, adoption and foster care and that the definition of family includes the full diversity of all family structures.

* The recognition and legal protection of whole range of family structures.
* An end to abuse and exploitation of and discrimination against youth.
* An end to abuse and exploitation of and discrimination against older/old people.

6. We demand an end to racial and ethnic discrimination in all forms.

Support for non-racist policies and affirmative action.
* An end to institutionalized racism.
* Equal economic opportunity and an end to poverty.
* Full reproductive rights, improvement of prenatal services, availability of alternative insemination for Lesbians and Bisexual women of color.
* Repeal all 'English Only' laws and restore and enforce bilingual education.
* Repeal all discriminatory immigration laws based on race and HIV status .
* A commitment to ending racism, including internalized racism, sexism and all forms of religious and ethnic oppression in our communities and in this country.
* An end to the genocide of all the indigenous peoples and their cultures
* Restoration of the self-determination of all indigenous people of the world.

7. We demand an end to discrimination and violent oppression based on actual or perceived sexual orientation, identification, race, religion, identity, sex and gender expression, disability, age, class, AIDS/HIV infection.

* An end to consideration of gender dysphoria as a psychiatric disorder.

Jewish Politicos Bring The Pro Toevah Jerry Nadler To A Cheder (Yeshiva) To "Teach" Our Children

The Jewish "political figures" in this video that brought the pro Toevah Jerry Nadler to the cheder are.

1. Ezra Friedlander: the son of the Liska Rebbe and CEO of the Friedlander group which helps run event for many Jewish organizations including Agudas Yisroel's legislative breakfast.
2. Yidel Perlstein : Borough Park and part of Flatbush's community board chairman. (1st Chasidic chairman of a community board in New York City). Yidel got his position with the strong support of Borough Park and Flatbush City Councilman David Greenfield.
3. Pinny Ringel : the Community Affairs Associate for the NY Public Advocate Bill deBlasio the strongly pro Toevah NYC mayoral candidate.
4. Moshe Friedman: executive director for Nachman Kaller's Community First and hosted the radio show "Let's Talk Tachlis".

All the kids seemed to be genuinely impressed upon seeing Nadler.  None seemed to have the impression that much of congress or Obama stand for all the Jewish Community hates.


Jerry Nadler is known as the biggest pro Toevah (homosexuality) congressman in Washington.  He is the leading sponsor of more homosexuality bills in congress, than any other congressman, including the bill to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (which will force all states that are still against Homo "marriages" (like New Jersey) to accept homo "marriage" from states that allow it (like New York)).

What Your Congresman Was Doing While You Said Hallel?

 This past Tuesday (on the first day of Pesach/Passover) and Wednesday the United States Supreme Court held the first hearing on same gender "marriage".  Outside there were competing rallies on both sides of the issue.

Jerry Nadler, who unfortunately has the largest Orthodox Jewish congressional district in the country, decided to further betray the Orthodox community by going to the rally for same gender "marriage" on Pesach (this was on Yom Tov itself).   The fact that he did this on Pesach is especially troubling for the Jewish community because that was the day that they were freed from the abominations of Egypt and Nadler's actions were, in effect, trying to turn the United States of America into Egypt. 

The source prohibiting same gender "marriage" comes from the Midrash (Toras Kohaniem) on the verse (Vayikra, Leviticus 18-3) "כְּמַעֲשֵׂה אֶרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר יְשַׁבְתֶּם-בָּהּ, לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ" "like the practices of the land of Egypt that you dwelt  in, don't do".  The Midrash tells us that in Egypt men used to "marry" other men and woman used to "marry" other woman.  Nadler advocating for same gender "marriage" on Pesach was, in fact, telling the Jewish community to return to the morals of  Egypt.

Nadler said about the event, "I am thrilled to be able to take part in this historic day," while to other Jews "this historic day" means Pesach when God redeemed us from Egypt and the 49 levels of impurity.

Nadler routinely slaps Orthodox Jews in the face by promoting agendas that are against Judaism and hurt the Jewish community.  Instead he chooses to follow the opinions of the liberals in Greenwich Village and Chelsea.  In the last election Nadler got 28,121 out of 33,492 votes (84%) in the largely gay 66th Assembly District (Greenwich Village, and Chelsea).  He got 10,375 out of 16,999 (61%) votes in the largely Orthodox 48th assembly District (Borough Park, and Flatbush).
