The recent ruling of the United States Supreme Court, which not only legitimizes abominable behavior but also impinges upon freedom of conscience and religion, has triggered much foreboding among devout people.

So this is a evil decision and one that can put Jews in danger of being persecuted against for following the Torah!


In the Orthodox Jewish community, it left the commentators either mute or uncharacteristically explicit in their analyses and condemnation. While some have mostly chosen to ignore the topic, others have been far from quiet. Time-honored traditions such as employing lashon nekiyah (clean speech) to avoid indelicate formulations (see Pesachim 3b), especially in front of impressionable children, 
The gemara in psachim is very clear that sometime you are required to not use a lashon nekiyah, especially if someone may make a mistake in halacha based on using less clear language, kal vechomer in our case where not talking about it leads one to do millions of averahs   

as well as respect for our host country, were set aside and replaced by unusually shrill denunciations of the Court for the immorality and irrationality of the justices’ reasoning.

Our country was founded upon the Constitution the allegiance of Americans (after God of course) must always be first and foremost to the Constitution, not the President, Supreme Court, or Congress.  To not accept the 10th amendment which gives marriage exclusively to the states, is to spit in the face of our host country.  It's bad enough that we had 3 Jewish judges on the court who rebeled against America by interpreting the Constitution against all it's framers, but we as loyal American Jews should not join the rebellion of against America (and worse God) !

It's important to stress that not a single person (of the 1000's) who wrote and voted on the 14th amendment, would agree with the court's interpretation of the 14th amendment!


Paradoxically, the United States Constitution, which is the first“G-dless” constitution in history, having made no mention of G-d or any dominant religion, is what has enabled G-dliness to flourish in
this country.

But the founding document of this nation the Declaration of Independence does, and using a term that clearly goes against the very concept of same sex "marriage".
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation

Furthermore one of the main influences of the Constitution, President John Adams makes it very clear that he believes that the Constitution can only function in a religious environment!

While our country remains untainted with the principles and manners which are now producing desolation in so many parts of the world; while she continues sincere, and incapable of insidious and impious policy, we shall have the strongest reason to rejoice in the local destination assigned us by Providence. But should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another, and towards foreign nations, which assumes the language of justice and moderation, while it is practising iniquity and extravagance, and displays in the most captivating manner the charming pictures of candour, frankness, and sincerity, while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the world. Because we have no government, armed with power, capable of contending with human passions, unbridled by morality and religion. 
Avarice, ambition, revenge and licentiousness would break the strongest cords of our Constitution, as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.  
Oaths in this country are as yet universally considered as sacred obligations. That which you have taken, and so solemnly repeated on that venerable ground, is an ample pledge of your sincerity and devotion to your country and its government.

Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies.


That the Constitution has also made it permissible to engage in idol worship as well as almost every deviant behavior under the sun is one of its unfortunate fallouts.

The Constitution allows states to ban homosexual behavior, which is why all states banned homosexual behavior for much of this nation's history.  The supreme court ruled less then 15 years ago that homosexual behavior is a "constitutional right", in another decsion that goes against the Constitution 


Still, Orthodox Jews have always thanked G-d for the strict wall of separation between church and state the Constitution erected—and with valid reason.

because that  interpretation at least has some Constitutional basis.  Furthermore there are purely secular reasons to be against homosexuality, which is why even the atheistic USSR still was against homosexuality.

It is widely held that there is no halachic obligation to dissuade a non-Jew from transgressing any one of the seven commandments that are binding on Noahides.

כלומר גלויה לכל. אין הראיה מצד שנאמר להם אלא שנגלה ומפורסם לכל באי עולם 
יצדק יותר מה שפירשתי:



None of the commandments designed to deter a Jew from sinning (except for the prohibition of “lifnei iveir,” where one assists a Noahide to violate a Noahide law) is generally thought to apply to Noahides.

Voting for candidates that support breaking the sheva mitzvos is lifnay iver.  Furthermore many if not most poskim hold there is lifnei dilinfay for Benay Noach, meaning that voting for these candidates have a tremendous number of averas in 1 second.  Believe it or not many Jews live America and are going to sin based on these laws (including those who consider themselves Orthodox).  As a side note if God decides to punish America because of these laws, we will also be punished (oy lirasha, oy lishchana).


The beis hamikdash was destroyed because we did not go lifnim mishuras hadin.  Based on many chazals it's clear that Jews are judged based on the behaviors of goyim when we can have influence.  In fact as the Radak writes in Yeshaya the reason we are called a Ohr Ligoyim is precisely because we should try and get the whole world to follow the 7 mitzvos and act in a proper matter. 

We must always remember the reason that God Choose Avraham is precisely because he stood up to the entire world and fought for God's Law, against all odds! If he was living today he would have said (and acted on such) that Jews should have been the leading advocates against homosexuality in general and especially "marriage".

Even Noach who was held accountable for not fighting against the world, would have never written anything as bad as this article (if he did so he would never even been called tzadik).

We know from Vayikra Rabbah (Achrai Mos) that gay and lesbian "Weddings" are what caused the mabul. (This is why the rainbow flag is so apropos)

Noach was punished because he didn't try to change his generation, Avraham was rewarded because he tried and did change his.

According to the psak of the Rambam (his definition of the mitzva of Din) every single Ben Noach in America is supposed to vote against pro LGBT politicians.

If that is the basic standard for non jews, the Jewish community must go way above and beyond that.

The fact that the Jewish community is not seen by the entire world, as the leading opponents of this movement, is in itself an unfortunate statement of how low we have fallen in our galus.

We are supposed to be Benay Avraham, Even the Orthodox Community is failing the responsibilities to act in a way that would be proper for a Benay Noach



Thus there is no obligation of tochachah (rebuke) with regard to a non-Jew who sins, no notion of areivus that compels collective responsibility.

But there is still a notion, The fact that 2 out of 12 of the trey asar nevim were "exclusively" for non jews should be proof enough!


And most certainly, when there is no prospect of that person, even a Jew, accepting the rebuke, halachah considers it counterproductive to chastise him.

This is only true in limited cases, Furthermore there is a difference between giving rebuke and trying to change laws


This does not mean that the framers of the Constitution were secular-minded people. Benjamin Franklin, a prominent leader at the Constitutional Convention, stated that he had “so much faith in the general government of the world by Providence that [he could] hardly conceive a transaction of such momentous importance to pass without being in some degree influenced, guided and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent and beneficent Ruler, in whom all inferior spirits live and move and have their being.”

Yet ironically, that “omnipotent, omnipresent and beneficent Ruler” conceived the Constitution without ever openly revealing Himself in it—and we should be grateful to Him for that. Other wise, any religious worship aside from Christianity might eventually have been outlawed or curtailed.

The animated responses of a number of Orthodox commentators to the Supreme Court ruling reveal that the contemporary exilic consciousness in America, which does not share features of the old paradigm such as persecution, exclusion and alienation, is slowly starting to fade even among the devout. This repudiation of the exile mentality permeates the ferocious verbal attacks against our host country.

The attacks were not against our host country but the 5 members of the Supreme Court of which majority of them were Jewish.  Those justices overruled millions of voters throughout the country, who chose to follow God's laws as opposed to the so called "rabbi".  

Viewing the Constitution that affords them the freedom to be Jews almost as if it were a Jewish document, they are highly disturbed when the Supreme Court justices dare to interpret the Constitution from a different perspective, i.e., as if it were religiously neutral.

For the 1st hundred years no one, including the writers ever dreamt that the 14th amendment meant "that 2 men have the right to "marry" each other. The only way to get that "law" into the constitution would be to make a drasha, in fact the following dissent reads very well about this decision if you change Due Process to Equality.

A Talmudic maxim instructs with respect to the Scripture: "Turn it over, and turn it over, for all is therein." The Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Aboth, Ch. V, Mishnah 22 (I. Epstein ed. 1935). Divinely inspired text may contain the answers to all earthly questions, but the Due Process Clause most assuredly does not. The Court today continues its quixotic quest to right all wrongs and repair all imperfections through the Constitution. Alas, the quest cannot succeed--which is why some wrongs and imperfections have been called nonjusticiable. In the best of all possible worlds, should judges sometimes recuse even where the clear commands of our prior due process law do not require it? Undoubtedly. The relevant question, however, is whether we do more good than harm by seeking to correct this imperfection through expansion of our constitutional mandate in a manner ungoverned by any discernable rule. The answer is obvious.

Many years ago Rav Moshe Feinstein, zt”l, wrote a letter to encourage the Jewish community to participate in the democratic process and vote: “A fundamental principle of Judaism is hakams hatov, recognizing benefits afforded us and giving expression to our appreciation. Therefore, it is incumbent upon each Jewish citizen to participate in the democratic system which guards the freedom we enjoy. The most fundamental responsibility incumbent on each individual is to.. .vote. ... By this we can express our appreciation and contribute to the security of our community.”

This letter gives expression to the exilic consciousness as few others do. It is also noteworthy for what it doesn’t say. Rav Moshe, who immigrated to the United States from Russia, never promoted the idea that the Jewish community should participate in the electoral process in order to elect politicians who would seek to impose Jewish norms and values upon the citizens of the United States. In fact, few in the religious community had such hubris.

R Moshe wrote that letter in right before the Reagan-Mondale election, it's clear based on the context that he was referring to Reagan, he was writing this in a non partisan way but was very clear who and what he meant.  This letter has been used for every insanity under the sun.  Supporting candidates who are trying to destroy this country morally, is not a hakaras hatov to America but a fulfillment of the pasuk (Mishlei 17)

2. Rav Moshe Feinstein did advocate the idea that the Jewish community should participate in the politics to impose Godly norms and values upon the citizens of the United States. This can be evidenced by the letter that he wrote urging all Jews to do everything in their power to stop the gay rights bill (which would of course include voting)

3. Those norms and values were here before we got to this country people like you helped change them.  In fact if not a single Jews ever came to America the sad reality is this country would not have allowed same sex "marriage!


As G-d, speaking through the Prophet Yirmiyahu, exhorted Jews who were exiled to Babylon after the destruction of the First Temple: “Seek the peace of the city to which I have exiled you, and pray to G-d for its sake” (Yirmiyahu 29:7).

That's one of the main reasons why Jews are fighting against homosexuality precisely because we are seeking peace on America.  We know that God is fuming at America right now for allowing this avlah. Every single mekor in medrish agadah about same sex "marriage" is linked with the survival of the world.  Shalom by it's very definition can never include same sex "marriage".  The zchus of all those fighting this ruling may be the only thing that is preventing America from being destroyed.  That is why the pasuk before the one the so called rabbi quotes is about real marriages (The pasuk could have said the same point in a much less robust way).  To inform us that only a society that has normal marriages can classic ways of seeking peace be called seeking peace, but when they nullify that then new methods of seeking true peace must be called into action

6Take wives and beget sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to men, and they shall bear sons and daughters, and multiply there and be not diminished.וקְחוּ נָשִׁים וְהוֹלִידוּ בָּנִים וּבָנוֹת וּקְחוּ לִבְנֵיכֶם נָשִׁים וְאֶת בְּנוֹתֵיכֶם תְּנוּ לַאֲנָשִׁים וְתֵלַדְנָה בָּנִים וּבָנוֹת וּרְבוּ שָׁם וְאַל תִּמְעָטוּ:

It is this approach that has sustained us throughout our long exile. It would be exceedingly tragic were we to abandon that protective shield on the eve of our Redemption.
If the entire Jewish people always followed the writers way there will never be a redemption, because we know from numerous sources that redemption will only come about through teshuva!

"Orthodox" Run Simon Wiesenthal Center Supports "Same Sex "Marriage" And Homosexuality In Schools

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is supposedly run by Orthodox Rabbis "Rabbi" Marvin Hier (Dean and Founder, and former head of YULA), Rabbi Abraham Cooper, (Associate Dean), and "Rabbi" Meyer H. May" (Executive Director)

They have a strong record of pushing homosexuality, including opposing Arizona's freedom of religion law, which would allow Jews, and other people who understand God's Eternal law, to refuse to bake a wedding cake for a so called "Wedding"

Center says denying services to people based on their sexuality, "hearkens back the dark history of American racial, religious and sexual discrimination and threatens the hard earned civil rights of all Americans"
The Simon Wiesenthal Center today called on Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (pictured) to veto that state's proposed law that would allow businesses to refuse to service gay customers.
"To classify and deny services to any group of people based on their sexuality is an act of discrimination that hearkens back to the dark history of American racial, religious and sexual discrimination and threatens the hard earned civil rights of all Americans," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the Associate Dean of the Wiesenthal Center, and Mark Weitzman, the Center's Director of Government Affairs.
"The protection of the right of Americans to their religious commitment is a core American value; however that value must not be used as a justification for unequal treatment in the public sphere," Cooper and Weitzman continued.
"We urge Governor Brewer to veto this bill and to protect the rights of all Americans to fair and equal treatment," they concluded.

In case you think their corruption is limited to NY "Rabbi" Steven Burg (Eastern Director Simon Wiesenthal Center) testified as a "Orthodox" Jewish rabbi" at a committee on "protecting" homosexual children in schools which was really a effort to push homosexuality further in the school system.  The previous speaker before Burg, lamented the "lack of "education" materiel and books that are inclusive of LGBT "families" and many other gay propaganda methods in the school."  You can clearly see Burg's paying attention during the speech immediately prior to his own as well as the last speaker (12:22) who also promoted LGBT agenda so a gay basketball player will be in a school text book.  This committee hearing led to a resolution promoting teaching of homosexuality in the schools. Nowhere in his speech did he say he opposed homosexual propaganda in schools  (Yeshivas also use public school history books).

If that wasn't bad enough Steven Burg is now Director General of Aish HaTorah  (If anyone can help get Aish Hatorah to fire him it's a mitzva gidolah to do so)

How Borough Park Helped Bring Assisted "Suicide" Legislation To New York

After Seymour Lachman left the State Senate The Jewish community had a chance to put in someone who would fight for decency in the senate instead we stayed home and those who voted did so in what looks like a majority for a leftist pig (Diane Savino) who was one of the leading pushers behind same sex "marriage" and now Assisted "Suicide"


look at this map below and ask yourself could the Jewish community have brought out even 5,000 votes for someone decent?
now add in parts of Bensonhurst and Sea Gate and you'll see who is at fault.

Instead we had the Jewish "leaders" support this thing including outgoing state senator Seymour Lachman and Assemblyman Dov Hikind.

Here are the Staten Island numbers when added together Savino only got 4,621 votes (including Jewish traitors)
When looking at these numbers it's obvious to everyone that we failed miserably and we unfortunately will be held accountable
And for the record just looking at her endorsements and we knew back in 04 that she was terrible.
  • She got the support of the Democratic Socialists of America (page 7) (they only endorsed 4 candidates in the state)
  • She was the only the only candidate who got the working families party line (it was more idealistic (meaning leftist) then too)
  • She was endorsed in the primary by Liz Kruger, and Toby Ann Stovisky 2 of the most leftists in the senate
  • She was endorsed by NARAL (a super pro abortion group)
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY SHE GOT THE ENDORSEMENT OF BROOKLYN'S GAY POLITICAL CLUB 



State Senators Look to Introduce ‘Death With Dignity’ Legislation This Month

After a terminally ill woman made headlines when she moved to Oregon so she could end her life under a doctor’s care, two State Senators are hoping to bring a similar law to New York.
“There are only five states in the country that allow for people to make end of life decisions similar to what Oregon does, and New York is not one of them,” former Borough Park State Senator Diane Savino told the Observer.

Brittany Maynard, 29, was suffering from brain cancer when she ended her life November 1 with a lethal dose of secobarbital prescribed by her physician. In New York, doing so would have put her doctor at risk of manslaughter charges, Ms. Savino said. She and State Senator Brad Hoylman want to change that with legislation Ms. Savino said they’d look to introduce by the end of the month.

“I was moved by Brittany’s story. I had seen her videos and felt compelled by the need, if I or any of my loved ones find themselves in a similar situation, to have that choice—and what a wonderful "gift" for her, that she was able to have a modicum of control over her end of life,” Mr. Hoylman told the Observer.

Mr. Hoylman, whose interest in the legislation was first reported by the Daily News, and Ms. Savino said the legislation would be modeled on the law in Oregon, a state Ms. Maynard moved to specifically so she could access its “Death With Dignity” law.

“What we’re looking to do is two things: amend the public health law in New York State to allow patients and doctors and family members of patients? to make end of life decisions that make sense for them, and two, to inoculate doctors who choose to do this from prosecution,” Ms. Savino said.

A patient would need to have a terminal illness that was verified by more than one physician, and have a prognosis of fewer than six months. The patient would need to be found to be of sound mind in a mental competency hearing verified by another independent psychologist which is not in Linda Rosenthal's bill (her's only mandates a psychiatric evaluation if a doctor demands it) which is presumably the same bill these 2 plan on sponsoring happens. If the patient met all the criteria, he or she could request in writing to be prescribed the lethal dose of medication.

“What we’ve found in other states that have this now is the vast majority of patients who elect to do so never use the prescription and that only 3% of people had a psychiatric evaluation,” Ms. Savino said, but simply want to know they have that power over their illness. “They have some control over what is an uncontrollable situation.”

The senators are working with "Compassion" and "Choices" who's founder Derek Humphry wrote a guide book on how to commit suicide that actually led to be people committing suicide, the advocacy group that published a video of Maynard discussing her choice to move to Oregon and set a date for the end of her life that put her—and the issue of "aid" in dying legislation—in the spotlight late last year. The group is continuing to lobby on her behalf for similar laws nationwide, along with Maynard’s husband Dan Diaz, who this week gave his first interviews since his wife’s death. Compassion & Choices also lobbied on behalf of another priority of Ms. Savino’s—the medical marijuana law passed last year.

Several years ago I got a call from a suburban police officer who sounded close to distraught.

He and his partner had just finished coming from the apparent suicide of a young woman who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in her family`s garage.
Among the young woman`s possessions, the officer had found a book. The book was called ``Let Me Die Before I Wake.`` 
``The book appears to be a guide to how to commit suicide,`` the officer said. ``It appears that the young woman may have read it before she killed herself.``
He wanted to know if such a book was legal. He said that it was written by a man named Derek Humphry, who was affiliated with something called the Hemlock Society. The police officer didn`t know if this was some sort of a cult, or what: ``It just seems wrong that people can read this stuff and learn how to kill themselves.``

“Compassion & Choices, as Diane proved, is a terrific partner and has a lot of experience in the New York State legislature. That’s why I’m thrilled to partner with Sen. Savino on this issue,” Mr. Hoylman said, also noting Ms. Savino’s ties to leadership as a member of the Democratic Independent Conference which means that this bill might pass if she makes a deal with Dean Skelos who helped pass same sex "marriage" and the rishaim/idiots of the 5 Towns keep electing.

Still, the legislation could face an uphill battle. Many religious groups strongly oppose such measures, and it’s unclear if it would find favor with leaders in the Senate, dominated by Republicans, and Assembly, or with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

It’s very controversial because it makes people uncomfortable, it really does. I never run away from the uncomfortable,” Ms. Savino said. like she did with people opposing same sex "marriage?  “But in passing I mentioned it to a couple of members and I was somewhat surprised to how supportive they were. There’s not a person who gets to the age of 30 in this world who doesn’t see, or hasn’t seen, someone they love suffer terribly.”

Mr. Hoylman too thought it would be possible to pass the legislation, saying the state had a “sophisticated electorate”meaning  evil/liberal electorate and that they would work to educate means pressure colleagues on the need for the legislation.

“We’ll work on a bill that people are comfortable with, including the advocates, including groups that are concerned about making certain that there are adequate safeguards like Washington where only 3% of people had a psychiatric evaluation? in the legislation, and address concerns like insurance meaning you are now going to pay for murder and be a full partner in this crime and who makes these decisions I though they claimed it was the patient? and issues that are crucial to making certain that the process is not taken advantage of,” Mr. Hoylman said.

Similar legislation was passed by the New Jersey State Assembly, and Ms. Savino said she’d be watching the progress of the neighboring state closely. which is why everybody should lobby in NJ to stop this bill She’ll also take lessons from her lengthy push to pass medical marijuana, she said.

“Lesson number one: pay attention to your colleagues. Their opinions count,” she said. “Also, there’s a very distinct possibility that this could be a multi-year bill. I’m prepared for that.” which means we also have to prepare for that.

Agudah Praises Andrew Cuomo's "Outstanding Leadership Abilities"

Statement from Agudath Israel of America Upon the Passing of Governor Mario Cuomo


Agudath Israel of America notes with sadness the passing of Governor Mario Cuomo.

Throughout his tenure as Governor of the State of New York, Mario Cuomo displayed great friendship to the Jewish community, and played a leadership role in addressing many issues of Jewish concern.

Governor Cuomo enjoyed a close working relationship, and an especially warm personal relationship, with the late president of Agudath Israel, Rabbi Moshe Sherer. Rabbi Sherer befriended Mario Cuomo even before Mr. Cuomo was elected to public office, and the bonds of friendship grew only stronger with the passing years. Their relationship translated into a number of tangible benefits for the Orthodox Jewish community as a whole and for needy members of the community as individuals.

Governor Cuomo had the historic distinction of being the only high ranking American elected official ever to meet with Agudath Israel's Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah (Council of Torah Sages). His deep respect for the senior rabbis, and his willingness to engage them in dialogue on major issues of public policy, set him apart from his contemporaries in the political world.

Agudath Israel extends its deep sympathies and sincere condolences to the Cuomo family, including Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has clearly inherited many of his father's outstanding leadership abilities. May Mario Cuomo's exceptional human qualities continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the family, and for all who aspire to public service in the most noble sense of the term.

Article that Karben is Talking about Brandon Cardet-Hernandez, a Cuban-American who grew up in Orlando, Fla., didn’t know the Yiddish term for soul mate ("bashert") when he bumped into Ariel Foxman on the uptown A train in March 2012. But it’s clear now that that one subway trip was an express to destiny.

The two men had known each other for years because their ex-boyfriends were partners in a photography business. But they hadn’t seen each other in a while.

Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, now 29, so flustered by the jolt of attraction he felt during the subway encounter, missed his stop.

“My boyfriend had always told me I needed to date someone cool like Ariel,” he said.

Mr. Foxman, now 40, has been the editor of InStyle magazine since 2008. At the time of their subway meeting, Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, now the principal of the Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters, a public high school, was a special-education teacher at the Facing History School, a high school in Hell’s Kitchen.

Their professional lives were busy and chaotic, but both men sensed that they shouldn’t ignore their brief reconnection.

After Mr. Cardet-Hernandez got off the train, he sent an email to Mr. Foxman about a class he was teaching on the Holocaust and human behavior. He wanted him to know that his syllabus included a speech on Armenian genocide by Mr. Foxman’s father, Abraham, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League.

They bantered by email but nothing became of it until a few months later, when each saw that the other was logged into Facebook at dawn on a Saturday. Mr. Cardet-Hernandez sent a message. “I asked if he was just getting up or just getting home,” Mr. Cardet-Hernandez said.

Mr. Foxman, who was raised in a traditional Jewish home in Bergenfield, N.J., and is known for his unusually sweet demeanor especially for an editorial fashion boss, had not been out late. But he appreciated the wit of the question.

Soon after that, they were having brunch in TriBeCa. And within a few weeks they were dating.

“At first we joked that it was kind of the first-wives club,” Mr. Foxman said.

But the joke fell away over the course of a few short months as Mr. Foxman fell fast for both the substance and effervescence of Mr. Cardet-Hernandez. “On the one hand, opposites attract,” Mr. Foxman said. “On the other, he was very familiar to me. We would be at dinner with all these fashion types and I kept encouraging him to talk about his work.” Mr. Cardet-Hernandez was, at the time, the director of strategic initiatives for the New York City Department of Education. Mr. Foxman said he sometimes wondered if he was interested in the topic of conversation or just the man.

For Mr. Foxman, the answer was both. He is a Harvard graduate, who has a love of educators in his blood. His mother, Golda, was a devoted elementary schoolteacher in Brooklyn and Harlem for 40 years. She thinks of teaching as a love of her life and respects any educator she meets.

“We laugh at the same school stories,” Mrs. Foxman said about Mr. Cardet-Hernandez. “He loves kids, has great goals and ideas, and he brings such a nice spirit to our family, just fabulous.”

But while Mr. Cardet-Hernandez devotes his life to public service (he also is a founder of Project Nathanael, which funds a free school in Haiti), he has fashion friends from his time around Parsons students while at the New School.

“He’s always been the friend I brag most about, said Satya Kulkowitz, a designer for Banana Republic and a college pal. “He’s running a school and he started a charity in Haiti, so just knowing him makes me feel more legitimate as a fashion person.”

Mr. Cardet-Hernandez said his attraction to the fashion world came at an early age when bright colored glasses and exuberant accessories were part of his adolescent dress code. “I like being around creative people who look at the world in a beautiful way,” he said. “And like Ariel, I can look at things that might seem ordinary and see them as spectacular.”

Their relationship took a while to become spectacular.

“We are both controlling people who have to make an effort to put the world behind us and make space for each other,” said Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, who is lively and social but who welcomed quiet nights staying in together. He was thrown off by how easy it was to be alone and quiet with Mr. Foxman, whom he immediately found to be caring and nurturing, especially when he showed up with soup and medicine and several get-well cards when he had the flu.

So Mr. Cardet-Hernandez did what any busy and scared-to-commit New Yorker would do: He canceled dates and kept pulling away. In response, in May 2012, Mr. Foxman sent him an email describing his faith in the relationship and acknowledging the hesitations of Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, who found it remarkably honest and vulnerable.

“That was a real turning point,” Mr. Cardet-Hernandez said.

Another one came when Mr. Foxman bought a bicycle in October 2012 to ride with Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, something both men knew was out of his comfort zone. Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, the more adventurous of the two, came up with increasingly elaborate outings.

One included an extravagant picnic of homemade foods under the Brooklyn Bridge, for which Mr. Cardet-Hernandez prepared a meal and brought music and games. “We spent the entire evening talking about our dreams and learned that we had the same perspective on just about everything,” Mr. Foxman said.

Mr. Cardet-Hernandez came to love how Mr. Foxman could laugh about the mundane. “I found his silly side endearing and at the same time he was becoming the smartest person I knew,” he said. “We could talk about pop culture with the same excitement that we could talk about conflicts in the Middle East or about systemic poverty.”

In May 2013, Mr. Cardet-Hernandez moved into Mr. Foxman’s Astor Place apartment and began to see Mr. Foxman’s caring side daily. He made Mr. Cardet-Hernandez brown bag lunches for school each day, always including a love note. Mr. Foxman also became so committed to helping Mr. Cardet-Hernandez expand Project Nathanael, his Haiti charity, that he said he would have dreams about it.

Last September, when Mr. Foxman went to Europe as a newly declared vegan, Mr. Cardet-Hernandez had local treats delivered to his hotel rooms with encouraging notes.

“I never felt so cared for and thought of in my life,” Mr. Foxman said.

In response, he sent Mr. Cardet-Hernandez 100 red roses, prompting him to buy a ring within days. Mr. Foxman had done the same soon after that. Neither knew.

Last Columbus Day weekend, while they walked in the woods in North Carolina, each with a ring in his pocket, Mr. Foxman fell to his knees. Mr. Cardet-Hernandez blurted, “No, no, no!” Then he explained to a momentarily crestfallen Mr. Foxman that he had planned the same surprise for that same afternoon.Photo

They were married on Dec. 13 by "Rabbi" Daniel Alder at the Brooklyn Museum. Their "wedding" preparation involved a conversation with Dolce & Gabbana for the grooms’ black formal wear, and conversations with Vera Wang, who designed navy-blue gowns for the bridesmaids. Inspiration for the dark floral party décor came from a new Dries Van Noten collection that Mr. Foxman had seen in Paris and shared with a party designer.

Mr. Cardet-Hernandez’s to-do list involved something more spiritual: He studied for several months with a "rabbi" and "converted" to Judaism. “It was a great decision for me,” said Mr. Cardet-Hernandez, who was not raised in a religious home, “a way to share life together.”

The Foxmans were thrilled.
“Their "marriage" brings together things that were less easy to understand even 10 years ago,” Abraham Foxman said about the change in "marriage" laws and acceptance that comes with tolerance for same-sex "couples". “Now it’s just so "normal", comfortable and loving.” In his toast during the "wedding" dinner, he thanked the grooms for the opportunity to be sensitive and he thanked Mr. Cardet-Hernandez for "converting", reminding him that the Jewish people had lost so many in the past. and will continue to do so with "leaders" like Abe  He also requested "grandchildren". Diana Cardet, Mr. Cardet-Hernandez’s mother and a job coach in an Orlando hotel, made a toast, praising the grooms’ flair and vitality. “Life is nothing but color with these two boys,” said Ms. Cardet, who wore a Carolina Herrera gown, as suggested by the grooms.

The 260 guests — including David Lauren and Lauren Bush Lauren; Dylan Lauren; Lisa Perry; and Prabal Gurung, all from the world of fashion; the actor Kyle MacLachlan; and the journalist Alina Cho — listened as a string quintet played during the ceremony and the Grammy nominee Alice Smith sang.

Cindi Leive, the editor in chief of Glamour, wore an orange gown by Marni, one of many eye-catching designs in the room.

“If you don’t dress up for Ariel Foxman’s "wedding", what’s the point?” she asked.

Well after midnight, after the band played “Oh What a Night,” the guests picked up their coats in the museum lobby and stopped by a station with bagels ready to take home. The bagels did not have love notes, but they were in brown paper bags, just like the lunches Mr. Foxman packs each day for his "bashert".

Why The Jewish Community Is Responsible For The Assisted Suicide Bill Passing The NJ Assembly

As we previously reported the Assisted Suicide bill passed the Assembly by only 1 vote.  Unfortunately only 4 people representing significantly Jewish areas voted against that bill (both assembly-members from Lakewood, the Yamuka wearing Gary Schaer, and Nancy Pinkin from Edison/Highland Park) there was an additional member (Annette Quijano) who didn't vote (which legally has the same as value as voting no).  ALL THE OTHER REPRESENTATIVES OF JEWISH AREAS VOTED FOR THE MURDER BILL. 

First of all If the United Orthodox Jewish Community would have proven record of voting based upon the Torah many of these elected officials would not even have been in the assembly.  Furthermore if politicians knew that we would have voted against them because of this bill it would have been a risky move that would have prevented all but the strongest ideologues from voting for this bill.  Furthermore there was no organizational (Agudah/OU) effort in fighting this bill, NOT A JEWISH MEDIA OUTLET PUBLICIZED THE INFORMATION THAT THERE WOULD BE A VOTE ON THURSDAY URGING PEOPLE TO CALL THERE LEGISLATORS.  In fact the Agudah lobbyist Avi Schnall (who opened up the Agudah convention a few hours after the bill passed) ran a particularly week attempt to fight this even by agudah poor historical standards (read the link) Clearly more concerned with the Agudah Convention then shfichas damim.

There was no move by the Jewish establishment to contact even influential members of the community (rabbis/A$kanim) to contact their legislators telling them to vote against the bill.  It's clear that if Rabbi Meir Stern Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Gedola of Passaic would have called Marlene Caride and strongly told her to vote against this bill, this bill would have had a more than 75% chance of her changing her vote and thus failing. (remember this bill passed by 1 vote)

To also give credit where credit is due (despite his other some of his other flaws)
“In terms of my personally held religious beliefs, there are issues of assisted "suicide", which is contrary to the religious principles that I adhere to,” said Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer, D-Passaic, who is Jewish. “I’m supportive of hospice, I’m supportive of affording people pain medication.  “To actually promote and assist as a state in suicide is, again, antithetical to my core belief system.”
