The OU Now Gives A Hashgacha On Assisted Suicide, And Same Sex "Marriage"

The OU's support for Assembelyman Timothy Eustace is indefensible, as I wrote earlier regarding Eustace on my endorsements page
not only did he (Eustace) vote and sponsor NJ"s same gender "marriage" he also had a homosexual "marriage" and prime sponsor NJ's Euthanasia law, he is most likely the worst person in the assembly and anything that can knock him out is essential, he won his last election by only 56 votes
The OU's endorsing evil candidates, while pretending to only try and get out the vote, is a tactic straight out of Williamsburg

Josh Pruzansky is the OU's NJ Director of Political Affairs and Public Policy

How can the OU bring a person who had a same sex "Wedding" who is the leading pusher of  assisted suicide to a Yeshiva?

make that 2 Yeshivas

How many different Yeshivas does the OU have to bring lowlifes to?

as I wrote earlier regarding Lagana on my endorsements page he
supports same gender "marriage", and voted for assisted suicide, barley won his last election.

as I wrote earlier regarding Huttle on my endorsements page she
voted for same gender "marriage" she was also one of it's prime sponsors: she was also the prime sponsor of a bill mandating propagandizing to children about homosexuality, original prime sponsor NJ's assisted law, a case can be made that she is the worst person in the assembly.

as I wrote earlier regarding Johnson on my endorsements page he
voted for same gender "marriage" original cosponsor NJ's assisted law

as I wrote earlier regarding Diegnan on my endorsements page he
voted for same gender "marriage", and assisted "suicide", was also the prime sponsor of a bill that would mandate propagandizing to children about homosexuality

Just in case you think it's only employed of the OU and not the organization

Here we see clearly that it's the OU itself and not just it's workers

Court Could Force Bakery To Pay $150,000+ For Refusing To Make Same Sex "Wedding" Cake

A hearing in March will determine the amount of damages Rachel Cryer and Laurel Bowman (now Bowman-Cryer) receive. The married couple are seeking $75,000 each for “emotional, mental, and physical suffering,” along with reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, according to the Bureau of Labor and Industries report.

Oregon bakery will have to pay lesbian couple up to $150,000 plus reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses for refusing to make "wedding" cake for a same sex "Wedding" based on their religion
This can cost these 2 bakers more than $150,000 (court decision)
A lesbian couple filed a discrimination suit against the Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Gresham when the owners refused to make them a wedding cake, citing their obvious religious beliefs. The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries determined on Monday that the bakers "discriminated" against the couple showing once again that gay "rights" trump religious rights.

from the summary of the court decision, worthy of impeaching him

An Oregon bakery will have to pay a gay "couple" up to $150,000 plus reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses for refusing to violate their religion and bake them a "wedding" cake two years ago, government officials announced Monday.

The Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Gresham caught heat in January 2013 when Laurel Bowman said the shop refused to make a cake for her and her fiancée, citing religious objections. Bowman said the co-owner, Aaron Klein, called the gay marriage “an abomination unto the lord,” KGW reported.

Bowman filed a discrimination complaint with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries months later, and the group said on Monday last week it was ruling against the bakery.

Now the bakers could pay up to $75,000 each to Bowman and her "fiancée", with the final amount to be determined in March .

The Bureau of Labor said in a statement that it provides some exemptions in such cases for religious groups, but the bakery didn’t count as one just because of its owners’ beliefs because only organizations have religious rights (for now in a few years they may loose them)
court decision only protects religious institutions

Very important section to understand why this happened
When gay rights laws around the country were designed many religious "leaders" only put in religious exemptions for themselves while allowing private citizens to suffer the consequences.  Back in June '11 when NY State was trying to pass same sex "marriage", instead of Agudas Yisroel lobbying senators to stop the "marriage" bill,  (I was told by an Orthodox Jew who was lobbing in Albany against the bill the 2 weeks before it passed that he didn't see a single person from any of the mainstream organizations his whole time there, He also said that Shmuel Lefkowitz told him that he wasn't lobbying to hard against the bill because he though it was going to pass) Aguda met with Governor Andrew Cuomo (this was confirmed by Chaim Dovid Zweibel) in order to put in protections for religious organizations helping this evil bill pass.   After the "marriage" bill came out the "Orthodox" Union released this insane statement (which I'm sure Agudah agrees with though can't state for political reasons)
Consistent with our tradition and Jewish religious principles, we oppose the redefinition of marriage and the state sanction of same sex marriages. We opposed this legislation and believe it is a mistake to enact it in New York. We do note however that the legislation, as enacted, includes robust protections of religious liberties for organizations including synagogues, schools and social service agencies. For that at least, we are grateful. Just as we, in a democratic, pluralistic society do not seek to impose our religious beliefs on others, same sex marriage, now the law in New York, must not infringe on anyone’s religious liberties. Sadly, in too many states, those acting on their religious beliefs have seen government benefits withheld, government funds, contracts and services denied and privileges such as tax exemptions revoked. New York’s law ensures that will not happen here and employers, social service providers and houses of worship are free to uphold their faith.
We are particularly thankful to the well meaning and passionate advocates on both sides of this issue who recognized the need for such far reaching exemptions. In particular, we thank Governor Cuomo, a staunch supporter of the bill and Senate Majority Leader Skelos, a firm opponent, who worked together to find common ground here. As well, we are grateful to Speaker Silver for agreeing to take up the legislation a second time in the Assembly to ensure these protections were in the final legislation. (OU press

If the NY "Marriage" bill was never taken up a second time it would never have passed (both the senate and the assembly have to pass the same version of the bill and the senate would not pass the assembly's version).  The bill passed the senate by 2 votes and those religious organization exemptions  that agudah fought for were critical to those 2 senators voting for the bill.  (even the New York Times admitted that) it's very likely that if no religious organization (Jewish (Agudah) or Christian) praised the religious exemptions the bill would have failed

Yet we found that those religious exemptions were worthless for individuals like religious farm owners in upstate New York who declined a lesbian couple’s request to hold a "wedding" ceremony on their property have been fined $10,000 and ordered to pay the women $1,500 each.

The bakery shut its doors at the end of 2013 , but the owners continued doing private orders, including one for an anti-gay ministry this is where the daily news put in irrelevant information to make sure that people side with the lesbians . It also continued running a Facebook page under the Sweet Cakes name.

It posted a statement on the page Tuesday: “Even though it seems as if we are being thrown into the Lions den. We will continue to stand for the Lord, our faith will not waiver. We fully trust in our heavenly father. He is able to deliver us from this, but even if He doesn't we are not going to compromise on God's truth in order to appease man.” how come Agudah can't say such a statement

The statement has received more than 3,000 likes. now at 4000
If you have facebook (click this) press like the statement

Last year, the Civil Rights Commission in Colorado ordered a baker to fulfill an order he refused to a same-sex couple. Another baker in Colorado is now being investigated for discrimination after she refused to write anti-gay messages on a customer’s cake.
The person in Colorado had this to say in response to these gay terrorists

You know, [I’ll serve jail time if] that’s what it takes.  It’s not like I have chosen this team or that team. This is who I am, it’s what I believe.”

The Kleins shut down their storefront later in 2013 due to the media attention from the case and what Aaron Klein described as a backlash from gay activists. At one point, someone even vandalized their bakery truck. Melissa Klein still bakes cakes from her home for friends.

Harmon, the attorney, said the case’s key element is that Melissa Klein was sculpting customized wedding cakes intended to celebrate specific ceremonies. “We’re not just talking about a bakery where you’re stirring together flour and water and sugar and handing somebody a cupcake,” she said. “She’s creating art. She’s designing things for an event.”

No Americans should have to choose between closing their business and following their religious convictions, Harmon said.

"First Amendment, Constitution. Freedom of religion. I'm free to exercise my religion however I see fit," Aaron Klein said. "If I'm told to make a wedding cake for a same sex marriage, I feel that I'm violating my beliefs. I don't think I should have to do that."

Public backlash caused the bakery closing its doors at the end of 2013 to turn into an ‘in home bakery’, but not without leaving a note reading ‘This fight is not over. We will continue to stand strong. Your Religious Freedom is becoming not Free anymore‘, according to reports.
(gay star news)

The owners of an Oregon bakery who declined to make a cake for a same-sex couple’s "wedding" celebration were found guilty last week of violating the state’s anti-discrimination law.
The bakery owners, Aaron and Melissa Klein of Sweet Cakes By Melissa, contend they were adhering to their Christian beliefs that marriage is between a man and a woman.

On Monday, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries announced the couple will have to pay up to $150,000 plus reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses for violating the Oregon Equality Act of 2007.

According to the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, the exact amount will be determined at a follow-up hearing on March 10.

In an earlier interview with The Daily Signal, Aaron said the fine would bankrupt the couple and their five children.
.................

Although the couple maintains that their decision not to design and bake a lesbian couple’s wedding cake was grounded in their constitutionally-protected right to religion, they’re also arguing before the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries that at the time of the alleged discrimination, same-sex "marriage" wasn’t yet legalized in their state.

It wasn’t until months after the Kleins turned away Cryer and Bowman that a federal judge would declare Oregon’s amendment defining marriage as the union between a man and a woman unconstitutional, paving the way for same-sex marriages.

Ironically, the state was in violation of its own anti-discrimination laws,” said Aaron Klein.
so the only reason they lost was because they based their decision on God and not man? (court decision

Charlie Burr, speaking for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, told Portland’s NBC KGW:

Oregonians may not be denied service based on sexual orientation or gender identity Sexual behavior, same sex weddings (both of which have nothing to do with the person). The law provides an exemption for religious organizations and schools, but does not allow private individuals businesses to discriminate based on sexual orientation.

from the court decision (rebuttal to follow)
if this law was interpreted according to the English Language even without first amendments protections the Kleins would be allowed to deny a same sex wedding cake for a variety of reasons.

1. it's not the person they are discriminating against but the action of said person, for example it would still be legal to deny 2 homos a room (because their behavior inside the room) as opposed to a single homo because your not discriminating against the homosexual but against the behavior of homosexuality
even if they would change the law so reason 1, is eliminated
2. it would still be legal not to deny the cake, because I would deny the same cake even if the person who bought the cake was an outsider (lets say a parent of the KLALA not misspelled). and I would grant the cake to a homosexual who bought it for a normal wedding (one of the lesbos in this case previously bought a cake from the Kleins for her mothers wedding)!

Liberal insanity built untop of more liberal insanity

The biggest  rebuttal was  from the same court decision
If the only reason that this falls under the non "discrimination" law is because there is no reason to make a distinction between a person and a "wedding" then this statement makes no sense

 (daily signal.com) highlights our additions

I spoke with Aaron Klein by telephone Monday night. He told me the judge’s ruling is a miscarriage of justice and an erosion of religious liberty.

They’re trying to push us into the closet for being Christians,” he said.

Klein said it’s time for Americans to take a stand for religious liberty.

The Founding Fathers said we have the inalienable rights given by God — not man,” he said. “Let’s exercise those rights.”

The Kleins’ troubles started in January 2013 when they turned away that lesbian couple. The bakers were relentlessly pummeled in the media. LGBT activists launched protests and boycotts. They tell me their small children even received death threats — simply because they chose to follow the teachings of their faith.

At some point the activists threatened to launch boycotts against any wedding vendor that did business with the Kleins. That turned out to be the death blow to their retail shop. Today, Melissa bakes cakes out of the family’s home.

The question now is how much — if anything — the Kleins will be forced to pay. Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian will decide, and history proves he’s no friend of the Christian bakers.

In 2013, Avakian told The Oregonian that it is the government’s desire was to rehabilitate businesses like the one owned by the Kleins.

“Everybody is entitled to their own beliefs, but that doesn’t mean that folks have the right to discriminate,” he told the newspaper. “The goal is never to shut down a business. The goal is to rehabilitate.”

Rehabilitate? He wants to ship the Christians off to a government-sanctioned re-education camp?

Aaron Klein told me there will be no reconciliation and there will be no rehabilitation. He and his wife will not back down from their Christian beliefs.

There’s nothing wrong with what we believe,” he said. “It’s a biblical point of view. It’s my faith. It’s my religion.”

Klein said the ruling, which he called “absolutely absurd,” does not surprise him.

“I’ve never seen a government entity use a law to come after somebody because they have a religious view,” he said. “I truly believe Brad Avakian is trying to send a message. I don’t think the constitution of the state of Oregon means anything to these people.”
From the court decision saying it would be a crime to go on TV and say that you will not cater a same sex "wedding

But on the plus side for Sweet Cakes owners, the agency’s prosecutors failed in their attempt to bring charges against them because they "unlawfully communicated a future intention to discriminate based on sexual orientation" in subsequent media interviews. The bureau ruled against the prosecutor on this one charge because they never formally said in an interview that they would do the same thing if it ever came up again, if they would have this false charge would have stuck and they would have been "guilty" of this blood libel also . So the couple who owns the bakery will not be fined even further just for saying that they do not agree with the law and will not comply. How charitable of the bureau.
1. A personalized wedding cake is a view in support of the "Wedding"

2. So there is no right to free speech when it's not for the public at large?

The OU Takes No Position On The Religious Rights Of Businesses Or Employers To Not Help In A Same Gender "Marriage"

-- The battle over gay "marriage" is heating up in the states, energizing religious groups that oppose same-sex relationships – but also dividing them.

In June, the U.S. Supreme Court gave "married" gays and heterosexuals "equal" status under federal law, but did not declare a nationwide right for gays to "marry", setting the stage for state-by-state decisions. So faith leaders are forming new coalitions and preparing for the legislative and courtroom battles ahead.

Yet, traditional religious leaders, their supporters and the First Amendment attorneys advising them are divided over strategy and goals, raising questions about how much they can influence the outcome:

_ Several religious liberty experts say conservative faith groups should take a pragmatic approach given the advances in gay rights. Offer to stop fighting same-sex "marriage" laws in exchange for broad religious exemptions, these attorneys say. "If they need to get those religious accommodations, they're going to have to move now," said Robin Fretwell Wilson, a family law specialist at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Critics reject the idea as a premature surrender.

_ Religious leaders lobbying for exemptions can't agree how broad they should be. A major difference is over whether for-profit companies should qualify for a faith-based exception. which means you will be sued if you don't help a same gender "wedding"

_ Some religious liberty advocates and faith leaders are telling houses of worship they could be forced to host gay weddings, with their clergy required to officiate. The Louisiana Baptist Convention is advising congregations to rewrite their bylaws to state they only allow heterosexual marriage ceremonies, and the Alliance Defending Freedom, a religious liberty group that opposes same-sex "marriage", is advising the same. But legal "experts" across a spectrum of views on gay rights say it can't happen given strong First Amendment protections for what happens inside the sanctuary. notice that the liberal talking points are only guaranteeing rights for religious people inside a house of worship

"A few people at both ends of the spectrum have talked about religion and religious freedom in a way that is really destructive," said Brian Walsh, executive director of the Ethics & Public Policy's American Religious Freedom program which has formed legislative caucuses so far in 18 states. "I think they've made it polarized and difficult to understand."

The issue of accommodating religious opponents has already been a sticking point in legislative battles. In Rhode Island and Delaware, disputes over broader religious exemptions led to the failure of some same-sex "union" bills. Both states went on to approve civil "unions" in 2011, then same-sex "marriage" this year. In New York, gay "marriage" became law only after Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state's top two legislators struck an eleventh-hour compromise on religious exemptions.which still led to people being sued for not renting out their facility for a same gender "Wedding".  Our Jewish lobbying groups (OU, and Agudas Yisroel) helped write these worthless laws to pass the "marriage in exchange for them not fighting it properly.  If the whole Orthodox Jewish community truly wanted to we could have stopped the bill by not voting for prop toevah candidates.  The bill passed by 5 votes in the assembly and 2 in the senate, if it would have failed in any house the "marriage" bill would have failed. We had the ability to stop it in both houses if we would have chosen to vote in full force like Jews. (In the senate we could have knocked out Kruger, Carlucci, Squadron, and Parker)

Still, advocates for stronger religious protections haven't won anything close to what they've sought in the 13 states and the District of Columbia where gay "marriage" has been recognized.

A few states have approved specific religious exemptions related to housing or pre-marital counseling, or benefits for workers in private, faith-based groups, such as the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization, according to analysis by Fretwell Wilson. Most of the states have protected religiously affiliated nonprofits from potential government penalty for refusing to host same-sex "marriage" ceremonies.

The only other protection written into the laws is a provision First Amendment scholars consider redundant: All spell out that clergy are exempt from performing same-sex ceremonies and can't be sued for their refusal.

The overall result: a patchwork of regulation, with gaps that are likely to become the target of lawsuits. Massachusetts and Iowa, where same-sex "marriage" won recognition through the courts, have approved no enhanced religious exemptions related to the rulings.

The statehouse negotiations concern what, if any, exemptions religious believers should have in the public arena. Should a religious social service agency with government funding be required to legally recognize married same-sex couples in all circumstances? Should a congregation that makes money renting property to the public be required to allow gay wedding receptions in the space? notice how much these liberal rishaiem our askoniem love so much care about our freedom of religion.  They have a safek if shuls should be forced to rent out it's hall for a same gender "marriage"

Some advocates only some! go further, arguing religious accommodations should extend in some cases to individuals. In this view, owners of a mom-and-pop bakery that makes wedding cakes should be exempt. So too should the county clerk who issues marriage licenses, as long as someone else in the clerk's office can step in easily and provide the service.

Many cities and states have anti-"discrimination" ordinances that include sexual orientation , setting up fines or other penalties for failing to complyliberals are not smart enough to understand the difference between not selling flowers to a gay person for their parents anniversary versus not selling them flowers for a so called "Wedding". Absent an exemption, objectors may have to shut down their businesses or give up their jobs, religious leaders say. it's already happened They argue losing your livelihood is too harsh a punishment for views on such a core religious issue as marriage.

But gay "rights" advocates say this argument puts too heavy a burden on gays and lesbians, and presents them with an unfair set of choices. and most of the politicians representing frum neighborhoods, who we stupidly vote for, agree with the gays on this issue

"In some states, the price of "equality" in "marriage" has been agreeing to give up protections against discrimination as part of the negotiations," said Jenny Pizer, senior counsel for the gay rights group Lambda Legal. "In ways, I think, other politically vulnerable groups are not required to pay that price."

Advocates for the exemptions don't agree on where they should go from here.

read this next paragraph

Nathan Diament, policy director for the Orthodox Union, which represents Orthodox Jewish congregations and has been a prominent voice on religious liberty issues, said his group hasn't taken a position on the religious rights of businesses or employers, but has advocated for broader religious exemptions for employees, such as a clerk who issues marriage licenses. In fact one of the senor political members (David Luchins) of the OU is strongly against Jews fighting against same gender "marriage"! The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which in the last two years has made religious freedom a signature policy issue, believes any organization with faith objections, whether a for-profit corporation or a nonprofit agency, should be exempt.

Fretwell Wilson is among legal experts urging faith groups to be practical, in light of growing public support for gay "relationships", and focus solely on securing exemptions, instead of trying to block a specific gay "marriage" law. however he fails to recognize that very soon gays win one fight in this manner they then try and win what they just promised not to fight, like in England She is part of an informal group of lawyers who have been drafting model language for exemptions to share with state lawmakers. These legal experts differ on whether same-sex "marriage" should be recognized, but agree on the "potential" ?potential? risks to religious liberty.

"The religious community would have done much better to ask for protection for their religious liberty instead of trying to stop same-sex "marriage" and try to prevent it for everybody," said church-state expert Douglas Laycock of the University of Virginia, who is recommending the more pragmatic course.yet he fails to mention that gays have tried to force religious people to help in same gender "marriages" in states where same gender "marriages" were not recognized by the government (New Mexico, Oregon, Colorado etc.) "The more same-sex "marriage" seems inevitable, the less likely we are to see religious liberty protection in blue states."

But Matthew Franck, of the Witherspoon Institute, a conservative think tank in Princeton, N.J., argued the only real protection for religious freedom is maintaining the traditional definition of marriage. He said same-sex "marriage" advocates are unlikely to tolerate for long any "deviations from the `new normal' they wish to create," so he predicted religious exemptions granted now will eventually be repealed.

"We have not lost the fight for the truth about marriage, and surrendering the field is premature," Franck said. "I continue to hope that it will never finally be necessary, and I work to make that hope a reality." The Jewish community in NY if it chooses to can help push back the acceptance of toevah by stop voting for rodfiem

Whatever strategy the faith groups choose, there's no sign gay "rights" advocates are prepared to make major concessions.

Jonathan Rauch, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, is one of the very few gay-"rights" supporters publicly urging fellow advocates to be more magnanimous. He argues that offering religious accommodations makes sense politically.

"I think there's a real risk that we will overreach and set up the other side to portray itself as the victim if we decide we have to stamp out every instance of religious based anti-gay "discrimination"," Rauch said. "I also think that there's a moral reason. What the gay rights movement is fighting for is not just "equality" for gays but freedom of conscience to live openly according to their identity. I don't think we should be in the business of being as intolerant of others as they were to us."

Others reject such accommodations.
Rose Saxe, an ACLU senior staff attorney, said the call for a middle ground, "while trying to sound reasonable, is really asking for a license to "discriminate"." And the Rev. Darlene Nipper of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said religious groups have another choice: They can accept same-sex "marriage".

OU Stamps Hashgacha On Quinn (The Hater Of Torah) Greenfield's The Mashgiach

The OU's press release supporting Quinn YMS who has no problem with banning Milah
July 10, 2013                                                                               Roslyn Singer, 212-613-8227
Addressing a crowd of reform Jewish community, synagogue and day school lay leaders who convened at the formally Orthodox Union for the first meeting in a series of leadership forums with the mayoral candidates how come you only mention Quinn? , New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn YMS agreed to work with the community on the issue of security for non-public schools. where was she for the past 12 years?

of all the candidate Quinn has the worst record on helping Yeshiva parents and also promises the least yet these poshiem are supporting her.

“We’ve heard loud and clear now that it's an election year that this is an area where the non-public schools need help,” Quinn said, adding that she would work with the non-public school community to figure out the details.

During the OU Advocacy-Teach NYS-sponsored leadership forum, Speaker Quinn also spoke candidly about other issues of importance to the Jewish community, including aid for religious institutions damaged by Hurricane Sandy, enhancements to the police department, fair treatment of special needs children within the education system and improvements overall to New York City schools
.
Saying “it doesn’t make sense at all” and only adds to the stress and duress of a family that is already in a stressful situation, Speaker Quinn said that, as mayor, she would remove the requirement for parents of special needs children to endure administrative hearings in order to have their local school district cover the cost of a private school placement for their child.

Speaker Quinn also spoke about the safety of New York City, stating that she would increase the size and strength of the police force as well as work to improve the technology available to the police. Noting that New York City has “the best hate crimes task force of any police department in the country,” Speaker Quinn said, “We should make New York City the first hate crimes free city in America,” adding that it’s “not acceptable” that mezuzahs were burned in Williamsburg, or that a man was killed in Greenwich Village because he was gay her comparing a mezuzah to a someone who is CHAYAV MISA is insulting and demeaning to the Torah, and the fact that the OU quoted the whole statement shows that they don't believe in whats in the mezuzah VECHARA AF HASHEM , or that Muslims in New York were attacked after the Boston Marathon.

New York City Council Speaker and mayoral candidate Christine Quinn meets with reform Jewish community, synagogue and day school lay leaders to discuss her vision for the city as mayor and address issues of concern to the Jewish you mean toevah community.

Greenfield Brings The Lesbian Quinn To The OU

Despite her father being hospitalized and awaiting knee surgery, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn kept her commitment to attend a candidate forum with board members of the Orthodox Union at its Lower Manhattan headquarters Wednesday afternoon. Since it was a private meeting, but there were still press releases was she going there to try and legitimize her evil lifestyle? why would the OU board even meet with her?

Asked about a bill in the Council that would require the city to provide school safety officers in private schools, upon request, Quinn said she was looking at the issue. "We've heard loud and clear that this is an area where the non-public schools need help and we would like to work with them," she said. Noting that the state's Blaine Amendment restricts tax dollars for religious schools, Quinn said she wanted to work with private-school coalitions to see what was feasible. where has she been for the past 12 years?

Her remarks to the group extensively regarded her policies on public education, including extending the school day for older students. She stressed that she would uphold mayoral control of the school system because “it’s important for all city agencies to have the buck stop with the mayor.”  That statement drew applause from the OU leaders. and how is that important for the Jewish community?

She also expressed support for extending federal funds for recovering from Superstorm Sandy to faith-based and other nonprofit organizations.

In response to a question by Daniel Labovitz, president of the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan why would the president of a Conservative School be at the OU debate? about the impact of the 91st Street Marine Transfer on the Upper East Side, Quinn said she continued to support the station because "every borough and every community needs to do its fair share to take care of its own garbage," and access to the East River for transporting trash on barges reduced truck traffic on city streets.

Quinn was also asked if she considered the West Bank to be occupied by Israel and this has to do with the race because?, an issue brought into the race when former congressman Anthony Weiner recently said he believed otherwise, in response to a blogger’s question on the campaign trail. Weiner at the time said he believed the status of the territories should be decided by those who live there and noted that there are differing views of what constitutes the West Bank.

Quinn, who has visited Israel several times on delegations sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, initially sidestepped the question from a JTA reporter, saying she was not familiar with what Weiner said and would have to look into it.

On Thursay a Quinn spokesman sent a statement to JTA and The Jewish Week saying "Chris believes the West Bank is a disputed territory and that the Israelis and Palestinians must sit down and negotiate a solution. As Mayor, Chris will use the bully pulpit of the office and everything she can to urge the two sides to sit and negotiate a peaceful resolution of the conflict through the establishment of two states for two peoples that ensures safety and security for the State of Israel." do we want this?

how come no Questions about Chick-Fil-A?
which shows how she attacks businesses who's owners are against toevah, that could mean she'll go after the Orthodox community.

Asked by The Jewish Week about the unlikely success of Weiner in the Democratic primary – polls show him ahead of or tied with Quinn at the top of the field – she insisted that would change in due course.
“Polls go up and down,” she said. “This has been a bit of a circus. That will come to an end as people focus on the issues. I’m exceedingly confident. New Yorkers know that talk is cheap.”

Quinn said both Weiner and former governor Eliot Spitzer, who declared his intention to run for city comptroller this week, had not earned second chances from the public.and when did she earn a second chance she's even worse then they are “You have to ask what have they been doing in the span of time since they left office,” Quinn said. “Were they working for the good of New Yorkers and the city? And what did they do with their time in office? Anthony Weiner passed one bill in his time in Congress and that was at the request of one of his donors.”

She was referring to a bill intended to fight cigarette tax evasion through Internet sales, which according to press reports benefitted a family friend and major campaign donor who sells cigarettes.

Quinn was introduced at the gathering by Councilman David Greenfield, who is Orthodox and represents parts of Borough Park and Flatbush. But Greenfield said he was not yet making an public endorsement in the mayoral race you have to be death blind and dumb to not see who he's really supporting, we should all therefore vote against him in the primary and general election.

Lawrence Quinn, 86, who has been a regular presence at his daughter's side throughout her tenure as speaker as well as on the campaign trail, was scheduled to have knee replacement surgery Thursday at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Quinn said she planned to visit him immediately after the OU session. since her record shows that she doesn't care at all about the Jewish community why did she blow off her father and go to a meeting to a community she hates?

(Jewish Week highlights mine)

Quinn spoke over sandwich wraps and sushi at a lunch meeting of roughly 40 guests of the O.U.’s advocacy arm, including representatives from the Sephardic Community Federation yet the leading Syrian Rabbaniem said it's a mitzva to support Erick Salgado, a largely Syrian-Jewish group. David Greenfield, a Democratic member of the New York City Council representing heavily Orthodox neighborhoods in Brooklyn, introduced Quinn. Greenfield has not endorsed anyone in the mayor’s race.

“She got a very warm reception today,” Greenfield told the Forward.

Orthodox Union's Statement ?Against? Yesterday's Court Ruling

“In response to the decisions announced today by the United States Supreme Court with reference to the federal Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8, we reiterate the historical position of the Jewish faith, enunciated unequivocally in our Bible, Talmud and Codes, which forbids homosexual relationships and condemns the institutionalization of such relationships as marriages. Our religion is emphatic in defining marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman. Our beliefs in this regard are unalterable. up to here I like At the same time, we note that Judaism teaches respect for others and we condemn discrimination against individuals. I don't remember this gemara
We are grateful that we live in a democratic society, in which all religions are free to express their opinions about social issues and to advocate vigorously for those opinions. The reason we opt to express our viewpoint in a public forum is because we believe that our Divine system of law not only dictates our beliefs and behaviors, but also represents a system of universal morality, and therefore can stake a claim in the national discourse. That morality, expressed in what has broadly been labeled Judeo-Christian ethics, has long had a place in American law and jurisprudence.

We also recognize that no religion has the right to dictate its beliefs to the entire body politic and we do not expect that secular law will always align with our viewpoint. Ultimately, decisions on social policy remain with the democratic process, and today the process has spoken and we accord the process and its result the utmost respect.and if chas veshalom the gays win in their move to ban bris Milah would you also "respect" the results?  Speaking of process, legally this easily ranks as the worst supreme court decision ever.  Over 1000 people voted on the (5th) amendment that was cited in the court decision, Yet not only would not a single person from amongst them (including it's writers) agree with the interpretation of the Supreme Court, not a single one of them would have even agreed with same gender "marriage"!
The Orthodox Union is proud to assert its beliefs and principles in the public forum, and will continue to do so in a manner that is tolerant and respectful of all of our nation’s citizens except Orthodox Jews, but which is also authentically based upon our sacred ancient texts and time-honored traditions.” at least for most of the first paragraph!
